A man who tried to enter a teenage girl's bathroom stall was confronted and killed by the girl's father, officials say. According to Phoenix police, around 11:30 p.m. on August 2, 40-year-old Melvin Harris went to the QuikTrip near Dunlap and 19th avenues to pick up his teenage daughter and her friends. A man, who would later become the victim, approached Harris' car in the parking lot and asked for money. Harris gave him some money, and he went into the QT. Harris was later informed that a man tried to enter the bathroom stall his daughter was using. The teen told an employee, who in turn alerted an on-duty security guard. The man exited the store and was pointed out to Harris, who realized it was the same man he had given money to earlier. Harris went into the store and told the security guard that, "he needed to take care of the situation, or [Harris] would do it himself." The guard reportedly told Harris he would handle it. According to witnesses, Harris later approached the man and punched him in the face. Witnesses also reportedly told police that Harris stood over him, hitting him in the face several more times. He also allegedly kicked and stomped on him. Harris then left the area. Police identified and located Harris at his home nearby. He reportedly told police that the man punched him first, hitting him in the neck. He denied striking the man when he was down. The victim was taken to the hospital with a broken nose and brain injuries. He later died.Harris has been charged with second-degree murder. 1612

A Miami police officer has been relieved of duty after a video showed him kicking a suspect in the head, as the man was lying on the ground and getting handcuffed."The video depicts a clear violation of policy," Miami Police Chief Jorge R. Colina said in a statement. "The officer has been relieved of duty and the Miami-Dade State Attorney's office has been contacted."A cell phone video shot by a witness shows a man lying in a yard with his hands on his head. The first police officer approaches him and starts putting handcuffs on the suspect. The suspect, identified as David Suazo in the police report, was not resisting and was lying on his stomach. His hands are being restrained. Suddenly, another officer can be seen running toward him and kicking him in the head.That officer then drops to the ground next to the suspect and appears to put him in a headlock.A woman can be heard expressing shock. "You didn't have to do all that, buddy. You tripping."CNN has attempted to reach the officer, Mario Figueroa, but has not yet gotten a response. A Pennsylvania woman is mourning the loss of her 12-year-old after claiming that the dog was mauled last week by another dog during a grooming appointment at a PetSmart, WNEP-TV reported. Betty Miller of Scranton told WNEP that after dropping off her dog named Bichon Brewster at PetSmart's grooming salon, she got a call from a veterinarian, who delivered the awful news. Brewster was killed after getting attacked by another dog.After the mauling, Brewster was taken to the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center, but was dead on arrival. The veterinarians told WNEP that it attempted resuscitation, but failed. Now, Miller is wanting answers as to why this happened. "We called corporate," Miller told WNEP. "They did not reach out to us, and I was very angry about that. Why would you want to bring a pit bull past a small dog who's really just bait? A pharmacist was arrested for allegedly luring an Indiana woman to his Colorado home and then drugging and sexually assaulting her multiple times, according to a release from the Teller County Sheriff’s Office. And investigators believe there are more victims who have yet to come forward.Brent Stein, 46, was a pharmacist with Mountain Key Pharmacy in Florissant, Colorado, about 2 hours southwest of Denver. His pharmacy license was suspended this week as he was booked on three counts of sexual assault, but has since bonded out of the Teller County Detention Facility.The investigation into the allegations against Stein began on June 18, when Teller County detectives received information there was a sexual assault victim at a hospital in Colorado Springs, the sheriff’s office said.The victim told investigators that she had met Stein on a dating website and that the suspect had made promises to heal her medical conditions and that he was a pharmacist, the Teller County release read.The victim traveled from Indiana to Stein’s home, and during her stay, she claims she was given un-prescribed medication by Stein, which resulted in her being incapacitated. Investigators allege the victim was sexually assaulted multiple times by Stein while the victim was under the influence of the unknown medication.Upon further investigation, other victims have come forward to report unwanted sexual conduct by Stein, the sheriff’s office said. Detectives believe there might be other victims and are asking anyone who knows anything about this case or may be an additional victim to come forward.
