Police in Ohio are looking for thieves who made away with massive amounts of candy at a Garfield Heights convenience store.According to detectives, a Cleveland-area Speedway convenience store has been robbed of tens of thousands of dollars in sweets.Garfield Heights Police said they have been working this case since June.“We're getting calls after the fact because when they're doing their inventory, then they're discovering the shortage,” said Detective Phillip Herron.The surveillance video shows the robber walking in, followed by several other people.“This guy’s got a bag, he's shoving all kinds of candy and there's a lot of people in that store, and not one person has called us, alerted us,” said Herron.The manage of the Speedway declined to comment on the robberies. Herron said the manager has also declined to speak to police.“As far as getting cooperation from employees in the store, we're not getting a lot of cooperation,” he said.So where is all this candy going? Herron said the robbers are most likely not eating it all, but reselling it.“Either take that candy and resell it to a store,” he said. “We got information from other cities that, some of these inner-city stores are buying the stolen candy for pennies on the dollar and they'll be able to resell it and make a bigger profit.”Back in July of 2016, thieves stole hundreds of dollars worth of candy at the Speedway in nearby Berea. Police in Middleburg Heights, another nearby Cleveland suburb, also confirmed a similar robbery earlier this year.The detective said the black market is becoming a bigger business on the streets. He said all the cases could possibly be linked.So far, Middleburg Heights said no arrests have been made in their case. Berea Police have not responded to requests for updates.  1854

Parents of students who had been evacuated from Santa Fe High School in Texas following a school shooting that left 10 dead were shocked to find a man carrying a pistol approaching the school to comfort students.The man, who was wearing a Trump cap and carrying an American flag, said he was walking in front of the school in order to "make America great again.""These folks are having a rough morning and could use some support, and I think these are the kinds of support that they need right now," the man told told reporters."Offering support," the man said, when asked what his "plan of action" was. "'God bless y'all' will go a long ways right now for a lot of people."A parent of a student called the man "an embarrassment.""This guy right here is sick. I'm sorry, he's sick," the man told ABC. "He doesn't need to be walking around the school, carrying a flag and a pistol. He does not need to be out here doing that, and I'm glad they're stopping him."  989

Peoria, Arizona officials say a 4-year-old boy has died after he was pulled from a backyard pool on Monday morning. Emergency responders were called to a home near 91st and Peoria avenues around 8 a.m. after the child was pulled from a pool. Peoria Fire officials saidsa the child was at a babysitter's house at the time. The pool was fenced and it's unknown how he got past the fence or how long he was in the water. The child was reportedly unresponsive and was taken to the hospital in critical condition but did not survive.No further information about the incident has been released. So far this year, there has been just over a dozen media-reported drowning and near-drowning incidents involving children in Arizona. Papa John's tanked Tuesday after a report that a plan to sell the company has fallen apart.The Wall Street Journal reported that the asset manager Trian Management Funds is no longer interested in bidding for the company. According to the Journal, others are still considering taking a stake in the company, but not a total purchase.Papa John's (PZZA) stock was down 10% at market close Tuesday.Papa John's declined to comment for this story. Trian did not immediately respond to a request for comment from CNN Business.Rumors have been swirling for weeks about potential buyers for the company. Each report has caused shares of the company to spike. The Journal reported Trian's interest last month.Without a buyer, the struggling pizza company will have to find a way to convince investors that it can solve its problems on its own, and beat out competitors Domino's and Pizza Hut. That's a tall order.The company has been working hard to distance itself from controversial founder John Schnatter, who resigned his role as chairman in July after news broke that he had used the N-word on a conference call.Papa John's said earlier this month that same-store sales in North America fell by 9.8% during the most recent quarter. Total revenue dropped 15.7% from a year earlier to about 4 million.Schnatter also stepped down as CEO at the end of last year after he caused a controversy by blaming the NFL for poor pizza sales. Schnatter said sales were hurt by the way the league handled players' kneeling during the National Anthem in protest of racial injustice.Since then, Papa John's hasn't been able to regain its momentum, and sales have continued to slip.Other pizza sellers have struggled this quarter. Pizza Hut's sales were flat, and though Domino's (DPZ) reported domestic and international same-store growth, the company missed analyst expectations.But Pizza Hut and Domino's are better equipped to win the pizza wars.
