CHICAGO (KGTV) -- Police say three people were shot and one person is dead after a shooting at a Starbucks in Chicago Thursday night.According to ABC 7 in Chicago, the shooting happened in the city's Uptown neighborhood at 8:30 p.m. Police say a 12-year-old was transported to the hospital in unknown condition after being shot in the groin. An adult male was shot and took himself to the hospital. CAMP PENDLETON (CNS) - The commander of I Marine Expeditionary Force today relieved from duty the commander of a landing team involved in a training accident that killed nine young servicemen in the ocean near San Clemente Island last summer, the Marine Corps announced. USMC Lt. Gen. Karsten Heckl removed Lt. Col. Michael Regner from his post as commanding officer of Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit ``due to a loss in trust and confidence in his ability to command'' following the sinking of an assault amphibious vehicle about 80 miles west of Encinitas.``Although the command investigation (into the accident) has compiled a substantial amount of information and data which formed the basis for Heckl's decision, it is still ongoing as the Marine Corps continues to investigate, assess all relevant information and take appropriate actions,'' I MEF public affairs advised in a prepared statement.The amphibious troop-transport vehicle carrying the Camp Pendleton- based personnel -- seven Marines and a Navy sailor, ranging in age from 18 to 22 -- foundered for unknown reasons about 5:45 p.m. July 30 during a maritime training mission and went down in water nearly 400 feet deep. CARLSBAD (CNS) - A report of domestic violence triggered an hours-long standoff in a Carlsbad neighborhood Friday night into Saturday morning, police said.Around 10 p.m. Friday, a woman called police and said her husband had assaulted her, cut her hand with a knife and threatened to kill her before she could escape, according to Carlsbad Police Lt. Kevin Lehan. The woman also told police her husband was heavily intoxicated.Police headed to the couple's residence, on Juniper Avenue between Interstate 5 and Garfield Street, and found the man had barricaded himself inside, Lehan said.The man wouldn't cooperate with officers and after a few hours, a SWAT team forced entry into the home through the front door and a window, according to Lehan.Officers searched the home and ultimately found the man hiding under a bed. He was taken into custody without further incident.It was determined the man was unarmed when police arrested him, Lehan said. 957

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (KGTV) - Camp Pendleton issued an alert Friday for a Marine missing on a recreational backcountry ski trip. 1st Lt. Matthew Kraft left for Kearsarge Pass on the Sierra High Route Feb. 23 and was scheduled to return Mar. 4 or 5 near Bridgeport. His rental car, a gray 2016 2-door Jeep Wrangler has not been found at the trip’s starting point in Independence. 11 law enforcement, federal, and state agencies are searching for Kraft. The Fresno County Sheriff, CHP, and Air National Guard have been conducting aerial searches. Anyone with information is asked to call authorities. 608

CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) — Carlsbad Police arrested a man they believe tried to break into multiple homes early Saturday.Police say 26-year-old Esparza Alan Arias, of Los Angeles, was arrested Saturday and charged with residential burglary and other charges. Police are asking residents to check their cameras if they have any for images of Arias.Police say the first incident happened in the 6500 block of Paseo Frontera at about 12:30 a.m., though the victim didn't report it until about 1:30 a.m. Police say while inside, Arias reportedly touched the male resident while he was sleeping and woke him up. Arias then fled after being confronted, police said.The second incident happened just after 1:10 a.m. in the 2900 block of Unicornio St. Residents awoke to find Arias in their home, and he fled after being confronted, according to police.Just before 1:30 a.m., a third incident occurred in the 3000 block of Xana Way. Police say a resident of the home found Arias trying to enter and confronted the suspect through a window. Arias fled and the resident walked outside and fired a warning gunshot into the air, police added.Police were investigating the other incidents when they heard the gunshot. Arias was found nearby hiding behind a vehicle, police say.Arias was booked into Vista Detention Facility.Police ask anyone in the area to check their cameras and call 760-931-3819 to report any sightings of Arias. 1426
