UPDATE: San Diego Police reported Monday morning that Rafol was safe and with his family.ALLIED GARDENS (CNS) - San Diego police were today asking the public for help locating a man known to have a mental condition who was reported missing.Benjamin Rafol, 26, was last seen at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday when he left on foot from the Verge apartment complex at 6850 Mission Gorge Road, according to the San Diego Police Department.Rafol has mental issues including schizophrenia and psychosis, said SDPD Lt. Dan Sullivan.Rafol is not from the area and does not have a cell phone or a car.He is described as a Filipino male, 5 feet-8 inches tall and 160 pounds. Bernie Sanders' son is running for Congress in New Hampshire.Levi Sanders, 48, said in a statement first reported by WMUR and since posted on his campaign website that he is entering the open-seat race to replace retiring Democratic Rep. Carol Shea-Porter."This is a unique opportunity to listen to the hard working men and women of New Hampshire about the issues that matter to them," he said.The New Hampshire 1st District is one of the nation's most competitive open-seat races in 2018's midterms.Unlike his father, who ran as an independent in Vermont, Sanders is running as a Democrat. He'll be the eighth Democratic candidate to enter the race.Sanders lives in Claremont, New Hampshire, which is outside the 1st District. Twitter is reopening its application for people to apply for a verified badge.The social media giant announced through a blog post that they are working on a new verification policy and are inviting feedback from the public before they implement it. Accounts that would be eligible for having a blue badge next to their name would work in government, non-profits, news, entertainment, sports, and those described as "influential individuals."Twitter said they've added proposed criteria to automatically remove verification from inactive accounts or remove badges from accounts that repeatedly violate Twitter rules.The public feedback period will last from Nov. 24 to Dec. 8, Twitter stated on its FAQ.Twitter said they'll begin to enforce the new policy on Dec. 17. 775

UNIVERSITY CITY, Calif. (KGTV) - A car crashed into a veterinary clinic near La Jolla Friday night. No people or animals were injured when a car plowed into the building on Town Center Dr. at 9:30 p.m. San Diego Fire Department says the driver told them he accidentally drove into the the front of the Cote Animal Hospital. There was a staffer inside the vet hospital with animals when it happened. The 75-year-old male driver got out of the car himself and was taken to a local hospital as a precaution. 513

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. (KGTV) - A military servicemember has been charged in connection with the shooting death investigation of a Navy medic on a Southern California military base. ABC10 News investigative reporter Jennifer Kastner first broke the story in 2019 after learning that the sudden death of 30-year-old HM3 Michael Vincent De Leon was being investigated as a homicide, not a suicide, like the family said they were led to believe.De Leon was a Navy corpsman, commonly known as a medic. He died last summer on the Twentynine Palms Marine military base, which is located a few hours northeast of San Diego. On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Marines sent ABC10 News the following statement:“As you might know, this incident is still under investigation. I can confirm, however, that charges have been preferred against one of the individuals for dereliction of duty resulting in death and dereliction of duty. A hearing is not scheduled at this time. The other individuals are being investigated. I will keep you updated once we receive more information.”RELATED: Hundreds honor dead SoCal Navy medic as NCIS continues its investigationDe Leon’s family first contacted ABC10 News for help last year after claiming that the military stonewalled them from getting answers about their son's death. The family said Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) would only tell them that there was a shooting on base at a housing unit with other corpsmen present and a firearm was produced.ABC10 News then learned from a source with close military ties that NCIS confirmed the death was being investigated as a homicide, not a suicide.A spokesperson for NCIS reported this week that the investigation is still open.
