(KGTV) — Now that guidance has been issued for playgrounds to reopen in California, Chula Vista says it reopened all of its 50 playgrounds on Friday.The city said the reopening process for its playgrounds includes guidance for visitors to follow to help curb the spread of the coronavirus:Visitors over the age of two need face coveringsUsers should wash and sanitize hands before and after useMaintain six-foot distancing from those outside your householdCaregiver supervision/monitoring required at all times to ensure guidelines are followedFollow maximum occupancy rules that are posted at entrance to each playgroundChula Vista says it will implement regular cleaning protocols, but warn that the locations may get a lot of use as they reopen. (KGTV) -- A card room in Chula Vista has built an elaborate outdoor facility as a way to continue its business and comply with San Diego County COVID-19 pandemic-related health guidelines.Seven Mile Casino’s new “card room” is actually a 5,500-square-foot tent, complete with tables distanced six feet apart, Plexiglass partitions to separate players, and touchless hand sanitizing stations around the tent.Before guests can enter the area, they must first go through a health screening. Staff and patrons must wear a face covering at all times while on the property.Seven Mile Casino spokesperson Brad Samuel said they’ve been working with health officials to make sure the casino meets all guidelines. They’re even using their cameras to help with contact tracing.Samuel added, "If someone was to get sick and say later, ‘I was at Seven Mile Casino,’ we can literally show that person and show authorities every single person that that person came into contact with … so they can be notified."Now that the casino has opened its doors, it means about 300 people also have jobs again. 1112

Cigarette boxes sold across the United States soon will display a new court-ordered accessory.Starting Wednesday, tobacco brands have been ordered to put "corrective statements" on product packaging that clearly state the harmful health effects of smoking, according to court documents.The order follows a long and rocky road of litigation against the tobacco industry.It comes as a result of a 1999 lawsuit that the US Department of Justice filed against the country's largest cigarette manufacturers and tobacco trade organizations, claiming civil fraud and racketeering violations over the course of more than 50 years.In 2006, federal Judge Gladys Kessler ruled that the tobacco industry had violated civil racketeering laws and ordered companies to issue "corrective statements" on their packaging, on company websites, and in print and television ads. 865

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a suspect after two women discovered the body of a homeless man in Chula Vista Tuesday morning. According to police, two sisters were walking on the 1400 block of Broadway around 1:20 a.m. when they discovered a man who wasn’t breathing.Officers tried to save the man, later identified as 56-year-old Ivan Velez, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators later found signs of trauma and are currently searching for a suspect. No description of the suspect was given.
