DENVER – The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating whether or not Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller violated any rules on a recent Florida fishing trip.The probe comes after complaints from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) made to the FWC about the fishing trip, according to TMZ Sports.On the guided fishing trip to Florida, Miller and friends caught a hammerhead shark and reportedly released it back into the ocean after posing for a picture and video. 517

DENVER — A prominent Denver realtor was fired by RE/MAX for removing Black Lives Matter signs from yards in her neighborhood.Denice Reich has sold home across Denver for more than three decades. The affluent realtor lives in the city's Hilltop neighborhood.A neighbor, who wanted to remain anonymous, released screenshots from the social media app NextDoor that show Reich removing Black Lives Matter signs. The anonymous NextDoor user posted on the app, saying that the incident happened on Aug. 1 around 6:30 a.m. He claims Reich had six to eight signs in her SUV.On Wednesday, Reich admitted she removed two Black Lives Matter signs, one from her neighbor next door and another from a neighbor across the street. She added that she returned the signs three hours later.She said in a phone interview that the signs were as offensive as “KKK” signs and called the Black Lives Matter movement a “terrorist organization” out to destroy America. Reich said she apologized to her neighbors, but was not sorry for standing up against what she referred to as an anti-Semitic organization she found highly offensive. DEL MAR, Calif., (KGTV)— “Enter at your own risk”— That’s what the signs at Del Mar Beach say after at least three shark sightings in as many days. There was also one sighting off the Coronado Coast around noon Wednesday.Del Mar is precisely the escape Kathleen Pierce and her family were after. “We have been suffering in the hundred-degree weather in Temecula so we thought we’d come down to the beach,” Pierce said. It was a great plan until she saw the warning sign at the beach entrance. ADVISORY: SHARK SIGHTED. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK.“I saw the sign, and I had to pause,” Pierce said. But they jumped into the water anyway, because she figured, the likelihood of actually coming up onto a shark was low. But a few minutes in, her son spotted a few. “When the wave was about to crash, I just saw all of them swimming in a group,” her son Drew said. Drew said they were only about three to four feet long, so he ignored them. His friend was frightened and ran to the shore. “The sharks that were seen off of Del Mar, based on the size, we know that they were juveniles,” Research Biologist at the Southwest Fisheries Science Center, Heidi Dewar said. Dewar said if the sharks are under six feet, they are juveniles. They eat smaller fish, so they pose no threat to people. It is their parents we need to worry about. “If I saw a sub-adult or anything over 6 feet, I would probably personally get out of the water,” Dewar laughed. Pierce decided to say and keep an eye on her children at all times, because leaving early to get back to triple-digit temperatures, was not part of her plan. “If nothing else, we would just go a little bit more shallow water,” Pierce laughed. “We would not turn around and go back.”Dewar’s best advice to avoid shark attacks:1. Dewar said, in the 1990s, regulations were put in place that helped the fish population grow. Banning net fishing off the coast of California allowed for more fish to survive. DENVER — Christmas gifts may not arrive in time as U.S. Postal Service offices struggle to keep up with delivery demands.James Boxrud, a USPS spokesperson based in Colorado, said they're experiencing historical mail volume.“This week is our busiest week, of our busiest month, of our busiest year ever,” Boxrud said. “We are seeing so many packages.”Millions of Americans turned to online shopping during the pandemic for everyday necessities and again for holiday shopping.“It’s like the perfect storm,” Boxrud said.USPS is overwhelmed as people experience long delays and deliveries past the promised window on priority shipping.Stephanie Turner, a teacher and business owner, said with family gatherings canceled, her package list got a little longer this year.“We would normally ship three or four boxes of gifts, and this year we are shipping five because of people we are not seeing,” Turner said. “If everybody is shipping a little bit more, it’s going to be overwhelming.”She mailed her gifts right after Thanksgiving and said they all arrived, but it’s her business she’s worried about. Turner sells custom jackets and tops on her website and Poshmark.“Right now, I have items that I mailed on Dec. 1 that still haven’t arrived, so that’s three weeks,” Turner said. “I feel really bad for my customers, but there is not much I can do.”The shipping delays tie up money — she doesn’t get paid until the package arrives.The Washington Post reported nearly 19,000 of the agency’s 644,000 workers are under quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19. They also found that mail performance plummeted and only 75% of first-class mail, like letters and bills, arrived during the promised window on the week of Dec. 5. Mail service scored 95% last year during the same time period.“We are flexing our resources,” Boxrud said.“We are borrowing people from areas of Colorado, bringing them to an area that needs some help just to try to keep up with that flow.”On Monday, USPS delivered 971,000 packages in Colorado and Wyoming, according to Boxrud.Private express carriers also stopped serving some businesses, which pushed more shipments through USPS adding to an already strained agency, the Washington Post reported.Turner is encouraging people to print out photos of gifts that haven’t arrived and wrap them up. She said she read the tip online. “Just be patient — it’s going to come,” Tuner said.Some Coloradans believe that while it’s frustrating, they understand postal workers are doing their best under the circumstances.“I feel bad for those guys,” Turner said.Many postal workers are working overtime and will work into Christmas Eve to deliver packages.
