The Macy's at Herald Square boarded up its windows in anticipation of protests from the result of the presidential election. PIX11 News cameras saw workers boarding up along the famous storefront Friday evening.A spokesperson for Macy’s told PIX11 News on Saturday the windows were initially scheduled to be covered up next week."Our windows at Macy’s Herald Square were previously scheduled to be dark next week in set-up for our annual holiday displays. The House has passed a .3 trillion spending package that will increase funding for the military and domestic spending and will keep the government funded through the end of September.The legislation passed with Democrats and Republicans coming together to pass it less than 24 hours after the 2,300-page bill was made public.Now, it's up to the Senate to pass it before the government runs out of money Friday at midnight. The House Judiciary and Oversight committees have released a transcript?of former FBI Director James Comey's closed-door interview with the committees on Friday.Lawmakers and Comey said that the interview was tense and that Republicans were frustrated by instructions from a Justice Department attorney telling Comey not to answer certain questions about the Russia investigation. Comey and House Democrats said the interview was a waste of time consumed with questions about Hillary Clinton's emails.The transcript was released as part of a compromise struck by Comey and House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Virginia, who had initially subpoenaed Comey to appear behind closed doors.Comey fought the subpoena in court, saying he would only testify if the proceedings were held in public. But he later backed down, agreeing to appear behind closed doors on the conditions that the transcript would be released as soon as possible and he would be free to speak about the interview afterward.Comey was interviewed as part of the Republican-led investigation into FBI's investigations into Clinton and Donald Trump and Russia in 2016. The principal of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where 17 people were killed in a February 14 school shooting, said students who walk out today will be punished.Principal Ty Thompson told the students during yesterday's announcements that if they leave campus they will face disciplinary action. A teacher told CNN that the disciplinary action will be an unexcused absence.But that isn't stopping the students: Most of the teachers said they expect a good number of the students to walk out of the classrooms, but they aren't so sure how many will leave campus.However, the student body isn't exactly unified on this walkout. While many of the most vocal students are promoting the walkout, some other students feel conflicted since the walkout marks the Columbine shooting anniversary.
