(KGTV) -- Police are investigating two violent incidents that occurred at Chula Vista’s Otay Ranch Town Center in recent weeks.The Chula Vista Police Department is asking for the public’s help as they try to find the people suspected in a stabbing incident on Sept. 25 and an assault on Oct. 2 that happened at the mall on 2015 Birch Rd.In the Sept. 25 incident, at around 6 p.m., two people were approached by a group of four people, and then “three of the subjects began assaulting one of the victims,” police said.Police said one victim was stabbed in the back of the leg and had their backpack stolen. The other victim was not hurt, but one of the assailants took their cell phone.According to police, the incident was captured on video and shared on social media. The suspects in this case were described by police as Black male juveniles.In the Oct. 2 incident, a person was with friends at the mall when he was approached by about eight juveniles. Police said, “One of the suspects then punched the victim and a second suspect stole the victim’s Boston Red Sox baseball hat. (KGTV) — A Chula Vista neighborhood is on alert after an encounter between three young boys and two men in an SUV.Aydyn Mays, 8, and his brother Jaycob, 7, were skateboarding with a friend along Glendora Drive Tuesday afternoon when they say a dark-colored SUV drove up with two men inside."They were about 30 years of age and one was wearing a bright safety vest," said Wendy Mays, the boys' mother.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodAydyn says the men asked them if they wanted an extra skateboard."They said, 'I have the same skateboard, but way much faster...Just get in the car, and I can take you to my house and I can show you the skateboard," said Aydyn.Aydyn says the men asked each of the boys and all said "No," but the men kept asking and insisting."It seemed like they wanted me to go inside the car," said Aydyn."They were trying to lie to us and steal us. I was scared," said Jaycob.Eventually, the boys ran off and straight to their homes and their moms."The boys came running into the home ... and said, 'Somebody tried to kidnap us!'" said Wendy Mays.Mays says soon after, the mom of the other boy was at her door."It was terrifying. Just made my heart fall into the pit of my stomach," said Mays.The boys' stories matched. Police were called, leading to a search, but the SUV was not found."I'm very proud of the boys getting away and coming to us. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Things got heated Thursday at a protest in Chula Vista over a library's Drag Queen Story Time. Drag Queen Story Time, set to begin at the Otay Ranch Library September 10, inspired strong feelings on both sides of the aisle. Roughly two dozen residents against the event said they were concerned it would sexually influence children. "How dare anybody. We want to protect children. We want to protect our culture. That's not hate. that's love," said Arthur Schapper, a protester against the story time. "Adult entertainers as role models? What's next? Why not porn stars," he continued. As tensions mounted at Thursday’s protest, officers with the Chula Vista Police Department were forced twice to intervene. A speaker in opposition of the story time spoke at a podium as a crowd gathered, shouting “no justice, no peace.” As voices grew louder, a group of officers made their way through the crowd, separating the groups. "But they have not even stopped to talk to these performance, these people, these human beings who just happen to also be drag queens," said Kelly Hutton. Dennis Hodges, a pastor in Lemon Grove, came to the event to oppose Drag Queen Story Time, but said he regretted how tensions escalated. "I don't scream and holler at people. (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a suspect after a 21-year-old man was shot in Chula Vista Monday evening.According to police the shooting happened on Third Avenue and Park Way near Memorial Park around 4:15 p.m.The 21-year-old was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
