Most new moms can relate; after being stuck inside with a newborn for several weeks, getting outside for fresh air and a different view is important.Mei Xiang at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, D.C. took her newborn panda cub outside the den recently and into the main enclosure.It was a short field trip for the pandas, with Mei Xiang gently nudging her cub along the floor and keeping them out of the smaller den space.These field trips will get longer and more frequent as the cub gains more strength.At eight-weeks-old, the cub is practicing crawling and is not expected to take steps until closer to three-months-old.Zookeepers say the cub is packing on the pounds and has grown a coat of thick, wooly fur, able to help it regulate its body temperature. This means the cub can sleep on the floor of the den next to its mom. 848

More companies are trying four-day work weeks.Some are doing it to avoid laying people off during the pandemic. Others say it creates a better work-life-balance with employees at home.Elephant Ventures is a software company that started testing employees working four 10-hour days. It's a move to help employee morale and parents dealing with childcare and remote learning.“I think you still have the age-old conversation of if it's 40 hours compressed into four days, you still have how much productivity are you actually getting in a 10-hour workday,” said Barb Holland, an Human Resources Knowledge Advisor with SHRM.Productivity has gone up in other countries, like at Microsoft in Japan, when they tried a four-day work-week last year.Zip Recruiter has seen an increase in job postings that mention four-day work weeks this year.“If you're not wanting to lose your good workers or you're wanting to make sure they're not looking elsewhere for those places that are hiring, you have to be thinking about, ‘how do I retain my good staff,’” said Holland. “I don't want to lose them and flexibility I think is going to be a key piece of retaining staff in the future.”That HR expert says flexibility could be key to attracting new workers in the future.Elephant Ventures plans to test its new work week this month. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says he’s concerned after seeing video of police using a stunning and arresting?a Milwaukee Bucks player Sterling Brown.The video is expected to be released soon, possible later this week. Police are reportedly bracing for backlash from the release of that video. This incident took place on the south side of Milwaukee in January. Police were called to a Walgreens because Brown was illegally parked across two handicap spaces. The officers say they tried to talk to Brown but had to deploy their stun guns to arrest him. Since that time, the arrest has been the subject of a police internal investigation."I have some of the same concerns that the chief has expressed over the video. I'm going to let the release of that speak for itself, but yes, I definitely have concerns after watching that video,” Barrett said. The mayor indicated that Police Chief Alfonso Morales had a similar reaction after seeing the video. Brown was not charged in the incident. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Sarah Fuller has become the first woman to score in a Power Five conference football game by kicking an extra point. The goalkeeper for Vanderbilt’s Southeastern Conference women’s soccer champs got her chance on the Commodores' third drive of the game. Fuller, one of three kickers on the depth chart, came out for the extra point that tied the game at 7 late in the first quarter. She put the ball through the uprights and celebrated by pulling her first in before slapping high-fives with teammates with her family celebrating in the stands. An official gave her the ball. Two weeks ago, she became the first woman to appear in a Power 5 football game in a game against Missouri with a kickoff. There have been two previous female Division I college football players, Katie Hnida for New Mexico and April Goss for Kent State.Fuller is coming off the college soccer season, playing in nine games for Vanderbilt. Last month, Fuller helped Vandy’s women’s soccer team to an SEC title by defeating Arkansas 3-1. Fuller had three saves in the match.Fuller is also using the opportunity to raise funds for charity. NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Families in one South Bay city got one step closer to relief from skyrocketing rent Thursday as a group turned in signatures supporting a measure that could make its way to the November ballot. The National City Families for Fair Rent coalition has collected 3,500 signatures from registered voters in favor of implementing a program to stabilize rent.The initiative is called the National City Rent Control and Community Stabilization Ordinance.In order to get the measure on the November ballot, the coalition needs the signatures of 2,300 registered National City voters.Researchers say the measure is important because National City is one of the last safe havens for families struggling to pay rent. "It is one of the last places, sort of the last refuge for families struggling to get by have been able to afford to rent," said Dr. Peter Brownell,Research Director at Center on Policy Initiatives.The city council can now take one of three actions. Enact it without sending it to the ballot, send it to the ballot or request a report from city staff.If a report is requested, the council will have to reconvene and take one of the first two options within 30 days. 1220
