SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego Superior Court jury is deliberating the murder case against a 44-year-old man who admits killing his wife.Armando Perez was grilled about his relationship with his estranged wife; 19-year-old Diana Gonzalez.She was murdered seven years ago in a men's restroom at San Diego City College.He'd stalked her that day, climbing a tree to peer into a second-floor classroom to see if she were there.  After class he confronted her.  "I remember just losing it and I guess I stabbed her." "You killed her." "Yes."Perez testified that he was jealous and that she told him he'd never see their baby daughter again.Time and again he admitted guilt but denied clear memories of strangling her then mutilating her body; finally carving an obscenity into her back.The prosecutor continued,  "After you stabbed Diana  in her neck, in her chest, on her face; you knew she was dead, didn't you?" "I don't know. It was me but I don't remember doing it."Perez appeared to be fighting back tears at one point, as he was repeatedly asked about specifics of the attack. "I just became a monster. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A winter storm warning was issued for San Diego County’s mountains as a cold storm hit the region Monday..The warning is in place from 8 a.m. Monday through 4 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.“The agency says heavy snow and strong winds are expected. Plan on difficult travel conditions, including during the evening commute on Monday. Tree branches could fall as well,” forecasters said.Total snow accumulations of two to six inches are expected with localized amounts of 12 to 18 inches. The heaviest snow is expected to impact areas above 5,500 feet, however, some snow is expected down to 4,500 feet.Accompanying the snow are heavy winds of 20 to 40 miles per hour.RELATED: Check today's forecast in your area“If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency,” the National Weather Service advised.A high surf advisory also takes the place of a beach hazards statement as the storm approaches. The advisory is in effect from 6 a.m. Sunday through 10 a.m. Wednesday for San Diego County coastal areas.Surf begins to build Sunday, peaking Monday afternoon through Tuesday, the agency says. Waves and surf of three to six feet are expected Sunday, increasing to four to seven feet with sets to eight feet by Monday.Accompanying the high surf is a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms and lighting at the beaches Monday, the National Weather Service said.Coastal areas could also see nearly an inch of rain as the storm passes. 1533

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An Air Force pilot killed during the Vietnam war will finally be laid to rest Saturday. Major Roy Knight Jr. died in action in 1967 when his plane was shot down over Laos. In the following decades there were multiple efforts to find his remains. It wasn’t until earlier this year that investigators discovered Knight and used dental records to identify him. “It is remarkable; I can’t believe it happened,” said his son Roy Knight III of Valley Center. Knight’s family had almost given up hope of seeing him buried. “There's a bunch of emotions that happen. First is just enormous gratitude for the people that went in and got him and that we as a nation continued to try to find him.” Thursday, Knight’s remains were taken from Laos to Dallas Love Field on a Southwest flight. In the cockpit was Knight’s oldest son, a Southwest pilot who saw his father leave for Vietnam at the same airport years ago. “We came up with the idea of what if would it be possible, and it required both tremendous effort on the part of the Air Force and Southwest Airlines to make it happen,” Knight said. Knight said his father was and always will be his hero. “The tremendous respect and honor shown my father, and and there's no doubt he earned that as does every one of our armed forces, especially our fallen.” Major Roy Knight Jr. will be buried in Weatherford, Texas. 1382

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A shipment from Mexico containing over 200 non-FDA approved COVID-19 test kits was seized at San Diego International Airport, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials announced Wednesday.CBP officials said the shipment of two packages arrived at the airport on Dec. 1 from a flight out of Mexico. In a news release, officials said the shipment was manifested as “plastic card” and then taken for inspection.Officers found 251 COVID-19 test kits inside the packages, and they were then evaluated by FDA officials.An inspection by the FDA found the kits were misbranded, and the shipment “did not have an FDA Emergency Use Authorization and violated the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.”The kits, with a domestic value of ,000, were seized by CBP officers, with Homeland Security notified of the shipment.CBP San Diego Director of Field Operations Anne Maricich said, “I am proud of how vigilant our officers are when it comes to protecting our communities, they stopped the entry of unauthorized, unproven and potentially unsafe goods into the United States. This is a perfect example of the great investigative work by our officers to protect our country from goods that could do us harm.” 1226

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego police cruiser struck a man that officers were trying to arrest, police said Monday.The incident happened at around 4:15 a.m. in the 4000 block of Winona Avenue in the City Heights area.Police said officers tried to stop a man riding a bicycle without a light, but he rode away.An officer got out of his squad car without putting it in park, and the vehicle rolled and tapped the bicyclist, police said.The bicyclist was taken to the hospital for an evaluation and later released to police custody. 537
