(AP) — The nation’s top infectious disease expert says that the U.S. may see a “surge upon a surge” of the coronavirus over the coming weeks, and he does not expect current recommendations around social distancing to be relaxed before Christmas. Dr. Anthony Fauci is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He appeared Sunday on ABC’s “This Week" and NBC's “Meet the Press." He says it's “not too late” for people traveling back home after the Thanksgiving holiday to help stop the spread of the virus by wearing masks, staying distant from other people and avoiding large groups.“So clearly in the next few weeks, we’re going to have the same sort of thing. And perhaps even two or three weeks down the line ... we may see a surge upon a surge," Fauci said Sunday morning. “So we know we can do something about it, particularly now as we get into the colder season and as we approach the Christmas holidays."With this, Fauci said the U.S. will soon see COVID-19 vaccines distributed, starting with those considered priority individuals.“We likely, almost certainly, are going to be vaccinating a portion of the individuals in the first priority before the end of December, and then as we get into January and February and March, more and more,” he said. “So if we can hang together as a country and do these kinds of things to blunt these surges until we get a substantial proportion of the population vaccinated, we can get through this.” 1483

The company sent a letter to Posare salon, threatening to sue the owner if she didn't silence Toni or fire her.  As for consumers, Grabowski says, "Everyone is entitled to their opinion. By the way, there is not a constitutional right to complain about a company. A company has a right to respond any way it wants to." The Federal Trade Commission's Consumer Review Fairness Act "Protects consumers' ability to share their honest opinions about a business' products, services or conduct in any forum, including social media."  But that's not enough. This request for a restraining order against Monat was filed March 7 in South Florida, asking a court to protect consumers against Monat's "Threats, harassment and intimidation."Monat says one stylist has agreed to pay them to settle its claims against her.  Miller is still fighting.  Monat sent this statement for consumers: "If a consumer feels that he or she is having a negative reaction to MONAT products, we encourage them to speak with their Market Partner to obtain an intake form. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — More than 40 people marched into the streets Friday, to protest rent hikes, claiming it could put them out on the streets. Residents of the Morley Street Apartments in Linda Vista received notices in February about their rent increasing in May. The rent increases range from 0 to 0. Raphael Bautista of San Diego Tenants Union calls it abusive rental practices. He says the substantial rent increase started when MC Properties bought the complex. In a letter to the tenants, they explained rent hikes are due to increased taxes and insurance fees. 10News reached out to the property group for further comment but has not heard back. “The rents are between 15 and 40 percent increases, that’s gouging,” Bautista said. He says the larger problem is that it’s legal, and that’s something the group is trying to change.” “There’s no law controlling how high rent is increased,” he said. “We're pushing for rent control at two percent.” “People are feeling frustrated because most people don’t have money to pay rent (increase). We can’t afford that,” said Romeo Martinez,who lives at the Morley Street Apartments. The San Diego Tenants Union organized the protest and march. The group marched to the management office where someone came out to listen to their demands, but took no action. The management office says they will relay the groups' complaints to the owner. “We want to make sure we peaceful resolution as soon as possible,” Bautista said. “Today’s purpose wasn't really to get a decision, but we did a turn in about 25 to 30 letters from these tenants,” Bautista said. “We want to make sure we get a peaceful resolution as soon as possible.” 1695

YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office says a husband shot and killed his wife, a mother of two, after mistaking her for an intruder early Thursday morning.According to a spokesperson, deputies were called to the home around 2 a.m. Thursday after a report of a woman shot and not breathing.The sheriff's office said the family was sleeping and the 30-year-old husband woke up to what he thought was someone breaking into his home. He reports that he grabbed his gun, saw what he believed to be an intruder and pulled the trigger.The person he thought was the intruder was actually his 31-year-old wife.Two children, ages 2 and 4, were inside the home at the time and neither were injured.Deputies say the husband was taken into custody and is being held at the Washtenaw County Jail as the investigation continues.
