NEW YORK (AP) — Gap Inc. is moving away from the nation's malls. The San Francisco-based brand was for decades a fixture at shopping malls around the country. Now it says it's closing 220 stores by early 2024. Back in August, the company announced its plans to close 225 stores globally.The parent company is also shuttering 130 Banana Republic stores. The moves announced Thursday are part of a three-year plan that will see Gap focus on outlets and its e-commerce business. Gap joins other clothing retailers in trying to reinvent themselves during the COVID-19 pandemic. The outbreak forced many non-essential stores to temporarily close in the spring and early summer.On Tuesday, the San Francisco-based company said they are "exploring is the possible closure of our company-operated Gap stores in the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, and Italy at the end of the second quarter in 2021."Gap Inc plans to shut down more Gap and Banana Republic stores amid the pandemic.By 2024, the company plans to close 350 mall locations in North America. 1053
New details are emerging about the 41-year-old Parma, Ohio father who turned himself into Parma Police on Saturday night, leading to the discovery of his 18-month-old son's body.Police said the man came into the police station around 9 p.m. and told an officer at the front desk that he wanted to turn himself in for a crime. Officers noticed cuts on both of his arms, which were later found to be self-inflicted. Officers learned the man's son was inside his car, which was parked in the visitor's parking lot of the station.Police searched the car and found the toddler unresponsive and not breathing inside the trunk.The boy was taken to University Hospitals Parma Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.The father was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for his injuries where he remains under police custody. When he is released, he will be brought back to the Parma jail. Scripps station WEWS in Cleveland is not releasing the name of the 18-month-old boy or the father because no one has been charged. 1087

NEW YORK CITY — Two men have been indicted in the 2002 murder of Run-DMC DJ Jam Master Jay, officials announced on Monday.The hip-hop star, whose real name is Jason Mizell, was shot and killed in his recording studio in Queens on Oct. 30, 2002. His fellow group members, Joseph "Run" Simmons and Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels, were not in the second-floor studio on Merrick Boulevard in Jamaica when the gunfire broke out.The hip-hop legend was known for his Adidas wardrobe, black hat, leather jacket, and large, gold chain. As a DJ, he had hands of gold.The NYPD said Jam Master Jay was part of a cocaine trafficking conspiracy that led to his murder, and said the DJ had threatened to cut one of his alleged killers out of a deal with a Maryland distributor.Jay was playing video games on a couch in the studio shortly before two men were buzzed in by his assistant, Lydia High.
