A police department in Arkansas has apologized for sharing a misleading warning about the danger of opioids on its Facebook page."The post about the fentanyl was sent so me from another officer at another Department," the Leachville Police Department wrote on Facebook Thursday. "I simply shared it. I’m should have checked into it further before I posted it. Sorry for the confusion."The Leachville Police Department warned residents to wipe down shopping carts before using them to protect against the dangers of fentanyl, a powerful opioid. "Fentanyl or something like that still on their hands and they touch that cart handle and then you do, it can get into your system," the department originally posted on Facebook. "Scary but worth taking the time to clean the handle. All you'd have to do is rub your nose or touch your child's mouth. I never even considered this possibility. Children being exposed to just the powder or residue is a bad situation that can turn deadly."While a police officer in Ohio recently claimed ot have overdosed on fentanyl by simply touching the substance, some experts dispute the officer's claim.According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, opioids killed more than 33,000 people in 2015. Nearly half of the opioid overdose deaths involve a prescription opioid, according to the CDC.  1400

A significant earthquake shook the Los Angeles area Thursday afternoon, the US Geological Survey reports.Initial readings by the USGS report that the 5.3 magnitude quake struck about 60 miles off the Santa Monica coast near Santa Cruz island.There are currently no reports of any damage or injuries. A migrant rescue ship has docked in Malta after being stranded for days in the Mediterranean amid a diplomatic dispute over which country should accept the 141 migrants on board.The migrants, including two pregnant women and 67 unaccompanied minors, disembarked from the Aquarius Wednesday at Senglea, a port city in Malta. They will soon be sent to locations in France, Germany, Luxembourg, Spain and Portugal, which have agreed to take them.The mood on board was jubilant as the ship neared the port, according to video tweeted by charity Doctors without Borders (MSF). The images also showed a large sign suspended on an outside wall at the port that read, "Everyone has the right to life."In another video, upbeat music can be heard blaring as the ship docked. Images show mothers leading their children down the gangway, and migrants hugging crew members goodbye. 876

A viral video showing security camera footage taken in Chula Vista on Halloween night may help restore your faith in the honor system. Kim Manalo's family joined the throngs of trick-or-treaters racing door-to-door in their neighborhood.  Manalo wanted to keep the spirit of Halloween alive at her home while they were out, so, she left a bowl filled with candy outside their door with a note asking people to help themselves.  Her hope was that people would leave a treat for the next candy-seeker."We came home to an empty bowl and hoped there weren't greedy kids that didn't leave some behind for others," Manalo wrote on her post.She studied security footage to see if perhaps someone grabbed more than their share of goodies. What Manalo found on her security camera video was a surprise that almost made her cry."Instead we found this clip of a wonderful soul who shared some candy from his own bag to keep the halloween spirit going for other kids," Manalo wrote.RELATED: Meet the boy whose generous act went viralThe video shows one of the boys reach into his bag and place some of his own candy in the bowl for the next trick-or-treaters. “He didn't even know the camera was there,” Manalo said. “None of his friends knew and to take that second out of his time from his own stuff just really warmed my heart.”10News posted the surveillance video on Facebook after Manalo's friend shared the footage with reporter Joe Little.  The video has garnered hundreds of reactions, shares, and comments."If only all of us raised our children to be so thoughtful even when no one is seemingly looking. Watch streaming video in the player below:SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The journey has come to an end for hundreds of migrants seeking asylum in the U.S.A large caravan arrived in Tijuana within the last week and have waited until Sunday to cross the border into San Diego.Late Sunday afternoon, members of the caravan plan to turn themselves in to customs agents seeking asylum.Most of the roughly 400 migrants in the caravan are women and children who have been staying in shelters, seeking legal counsel before trying to cross the border.Border patrol agents released a statement Saturday saying several groups associated with the caravan have been illegally climbing a scrap metal border fence.The statement warned anyone with the caravan to “think before you act.” The Secretary of Homeland Security also said in a statement earlier this week that anyone seeking asylum “may be detained while their claims are adjudicated.”Protesters say the group is taking advantage of U.S. immigration laws. A group called San Diegans for Secure Borders plans to protest at Friendship Park.They say the migrants are unwelcome and that their claims for asylum are false. 1207
