The L’Anse Creuse Middle School concert was earlier this week and 14-year-old Dominic Schroeder was super excited. He plays the saxophone and has been practicing the performance in band class and at home too.Dominic is cognitively impaired. Because of his special needs, he often practices with a plastic digital saxophone with ear-buds. The device can help the instructors measure his progression. On concert day Dominic was ready to perform using his own shiny saxophone. But according to his family, Dominic was told by an administrator that he could not play his instrument with the band. He was instructed to use the plastic saxophone - with earphones.Dominic was upset and his loved ones were too. We’re told he and his family did not agree to this. They also say, with this device, Dominic’s the only one who can hear his music. It is silent to the rest of the world.The family believes this is discrimination and exclusion. A Halloween display featuring President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama put up outside of a Fowlerville, Michigan, auto shop has drawn concern and even death threats to the owner. The original display was put up three weeks ago outside of Quality Coatings on Carr Street. It was a scarecrow with Trump’s facemask holding a rope and Obama’s facemask at the bottom of the rope. Under the Trump scarecrow foot was a Hillary Clinton mask. Just a few days ago, the auto shop owner took down the rope and Obama’s head and placed a sash on the Trump scarecrow that says, “PC Police.” A post on social media displaying the original decorations went viral, with many claiming the rope looked like a noose. The shop owner, who refused to go on camera, says it was not meant to be racist, rather the rope was meant to look like a spine and a move from the game Mortal Kombat. "I feel like it was supposed to be a noose and he says there’s no winners, yet who’s holding Obama's head?," said Ashley Tyler who lives near the display. A Secret Service spokesperson would not say if there was an active investigation into the display. “The Secret Service does not confirm or comment on the absence or existence of specific investigations.”The Quality Coatings Facebook page has been removed after the owner said he received multiple negative reviews. 1361

It’s one that could cause “severe” disruptions in the United States.“The difference between COVID-19 and other typical coronaviruses is that it seems to be causing more episodes of pneumonia and people are getting a lot sicker,” said Dr. Michelle Barron, Medical Director of Infection Prevention at the University of Colorado Hospital. The announcement was met with some panic – people began discussions of stockpiling.“They said to be prepared and I think preparation is something we do all the time, we just don’t think of it in the context of an infectious disease,” Dr. Barron said. Barron says that in order to prepare, you don’t need to do any more than you normally would preparing for something like a big storm. “Have a plan be ready to go so that you have a baby sitter or someone that needs help from you has another access.”Dr. Barron said she does not foresee Americans facing a shortage of food or medications at this time. “The biggest thing that’s already been affected is our ability to travel. We live in a global world. People are on planes, trains and going places all the time,” she said. The CDC also said Americans should prepare for what’s called “community transmission.” “When you start seeing cases in the community, you start having a lot more community transmission where it’s not just associated with travel. I think there will be disruptions in the sense that big events that were planned might start to get canceled. Schools may or may not cancel for a certain period of time if there’s a certain number of cases in the school, just like we do now with norovirus or when there’s big outbreaks of flu,” Dr. Barron said.
