SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A stunning photo of a female surfer riding the waves was taken at sunset in Cardiff, and the photographer who took the image is hoping to find her.Los Angeles-based photographer Robin Kerr is inspired by nature. She has been taking nature and wildlife photos since she was a child.“My dad lent me his camera on our family vacation to Montana in 1989, ever since then I’ve had the bug,” said Kerr.Kerr said she had visited some amazing places to take photos, but her trip to San Diego in 2018 is one of her favorites.“I took a trip down to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park to see all of the wildlife there," said Kerr. “It had rained on and off all day. I was thinking it might be a really great sunset, something dramatic with the clouds.”Kerr made her way to Cardiff just before it got too dark to snap pictures of the beach. At that moment, she took a stunning photo of a female surfer gliding on the water, in front of a golden sunset.“You can tell she’s just experiencing so much joy in the photo, doing what she loves," Kerr told ABC 10News.Kerr said while taking photos of other objects on the beach, she missed meeting the surfer. She posted the picture, and another zoomed-in image of the woman on her social media accounts, hoping to find her. She had no luck. Nearly two years later, she is resuming her search.“I came across that picture again; I thought man it would be so great to actually find her," Kerr said.Kerr said she has not been able to retake a photo like this. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — After a week of sifting through ashes of the devastating Camp Fire in Northern California, San Diego firefighters are back home tonight. The San Diego Urban Search and Rescue Task Force searched over 1,500 burned structures in the city of Paradise, Calif. Battalion Chief David Gerboth says many did not survive the devastation. Crews were ordered to look for 1- to 5-inch bone fragments of those who might be missing. “We went into a career to save people and we knew going up there that that wasn’t the mission. It was to provide closure for some families,” says Gerboth. The air quality was also a big challenge for firefighters.“There’s a lot of ash, there's a lot of debris. We were constantly wearing respiratory protection," he added.The task force was also away from their loved ones on Thanksgiving. Firefighters say this mission hit home for many of them.“It was definitely a challenge for all of us,” said Brady Holden. “Whatever little problems that you would deal with throughout the day, as you were driving back to the base camp you look around at the devastation, it really put it all into perspective that my problems really aren’t that bad.”The task force had to report all of the structures as clear before leaving. This allowed families to get back to survey the damage and salvage anything they could. 1350

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego woman is taking legal action against a trendy hair product company, claiming it caused her severe hair loss and bald spots. She’s not alone. Women around the country are claiming similar effects. They blame their hair care nightmares on Monat Global, based in Florida.“It’s been so hard,” says San Diego’s Dana Sohovich. She held back tears as she spoke exclusively with 10News about her experience. Sohovich has filed a class action lawsuit against the company, alleging it falsely promised her “longer, fuller, stronger” hair. Her suit accuses Monat of “false and deceptive advertising”.“I literally had almost a baseball size [ball] of hair in my hand,” she tells us, adding, “It's devastating.”PHOTOS: Monat users report hair and scalp damageTemecula’s Ashley Slayden showed us her daughter’s scalp. “You can see the bald spots [on] her head. You can see how thin it is. It was never that thin,” she adds. Slayden tells us she and her kids starting using the product in the fall. “I bought it at wholesale and I spent seventy dollars,” she adds. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego Navy training school has been closed after a third sailor with ties to the location tested positive for coronavirus.The Navy said the sailor, who tested positive for COVID-19 on March 14, is stationed on the USS Essex and was attending Training Support Command San Diego.
