It’s a worrisome reality that Justine Springberg feels for her students. “I have the students who are almost all of them receive free and reduced lunch,” said Springberg, a teacher at Yorktown High School in Arlington, Virginia. About 25% of the students in that district receive free or reduced meals at school. Districts across the country have tried to get food to students by making breakfast and lunch meals available to go each day, instead of serving them in the cafeteria, as they would during the school year and summer. Despite those district efforts to still provide those meals, though, some teachers feared for the students’ families. “We just picked up the phone and started talking to each other and she said, ‘you know, I really think that this is going to be not enough. At its height, millions of smartphone users played along to HQ Trivia, a live trivia game show where anyone could win actual cash. Depending on the number of winners on a given night, winners could earn anything from pennies to thousands. But as of Friday, it appears the smartphone game is no more. HQ Trivia has suspended the service, the company announced on its app on Friday. CNN was first to report the news. CNN reported that HQ Trivia is laying off its remaining 25 employees. In an email obtained by CNN, CEO Rus Yusupov told employees, "Lead investors are no longer willing to fund the company, and so effective today, HQ will cease operations and move to dissolution."The service launched late in 2017, and turned its then host Scott Rogowsky into a celebrity. Rogowsky made appearances on various TV outlets, promoting the game. Rogowsky stepped down from the game in 2019. Beggars' night is celebrated nationwide by children who get dressed up in costumes to bring home lots of candy around Halloween. But when is the right time for young people to say "no thanks" to free candy?In one Virginia town, there was a long-standing law that prohibited anyone over the age of 12 from trick or treating. The town of Chesapeake, Virginia, announced recently that the law, which never was enforced, has been amended.The town changed the law to now allow children up to age 14 to trick or treat, and 15 year olds caught in the act of asking for free candy won't be thrown in jail. The town specifically says, "Chesapeake Police staff will focus on making sure the evening is safe for everyone, not actively seeking out violations of the time or age limits. At a briefing by the White House's coronavirus task force, Sec. of State Mike Pompeo said that the U.S. and Mexico have agreed to end all non-essential travel between the border of the two countries.The agreement is similar to one with Canada that was announced earlier this week. Essential travel, including trade and commerce, will continue.The travel restrictions go into effect on Saturday.Pompeo also said that the CDC has ordered that all foreign nationals not be allowed into the U.S. without proper documentation.
