With Halloween coming up, there’s candy everywhere. It can be easy to go overboard on the sweets, but nutritionists say there are ways to indulge and keep your health in check. With around 600 million pounds of Halloween candy bought each year, registered dietitian Sara Scheler says some treats are more nutritious than others. Scheler says she recommends Reese’s over Snickers. “I prefer them because they have simple ingredients,” said Scheler. “There’s really just sugar, a little bit of fat, chocolate and peanuts, where Snickers has a much longer label and corn syrup as well.”What about M&Ms vs. KitKats? “I would pick KitKats over M&Ms. I don’t like M&Ms because they have all that artificial color along with them and they do have a lot more concentrated sugar.”SweetTarts or Nerds?“So SweetTarts are my pick over Nerds because Nerds have a slightly larger serving size even though that box is really tiny, it still has more candy in it.”Twix or Milk Way?“Between Twix and Milk Way, I would actually say that’s a tie. They have similar amount of calories, similar amounts of added sugar.”If you plan on indulging in a few pieces of candy over the next few weeks, Scheler also suggests eating them at a certain time.“It’s best to eat sugar, especially processed sugar, with a meal, so that our blood glucose level doesn’t spike as high. The knock at the door came just past 6:30 p.m. Friday. Two men, their masks pulled below their mouths, were standing outside Anna's home near Southwestern College."Can I help you?" she is heard asking in her Ring doorbell video.Anna's question gets an odd reply."We're looking for the queen of the castle," said the man at the door.Moments later, the man at the door makes his pitch."We're going door to door doing COVID testing. Have you been tested?" he asks.Anna, an ICU social worker, sensed something shady."I work at a hospital. No, no, no. Goodbye!" she exclaimed in the video.Just 10 minutes prior, the man who was standing back in the video, was at the home of neighbor Alice Segobia with a different offer."He asked about new metering that was coming. Asked if I was the homeowner. I lied to get him out of the house, said I didn't own my home," said Segobia.Segobia also abruptly said goodbye, so she never found out what he was after. "Superman" star Margot Kidder died at age 69, multiple outlets reported. Kidder played the role of Lois Lane in the 1978 "Superman" movie and later starred in three of the movie's sequels with Christopher Reeve. Kidder died Sunday in Montana, according to TMZ. Officials at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for Women first had to transfer the 19 babies in the neonatal intensive care unit to the main hospital in the system after it became clear that the women's hospital could be swallowed in storm surge.
