SAN DIEGO (KGTV and CNS) - One person was seriously hurt in an explosion during a cannabis oil extraction operation in the South Bay, police say. According to police, the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night at a house near the intersection of Lieder Drive and Green Bay Street. One person was severely burned and was rushed to the hospital as a result of the explosion. The person hasn't been identified and it's not immediately clear if any arrests are being made.  503

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A broken fire hydrant sent thousands of gallons of water gushing into the air Friday, damaging home on the 5100 block of Mariner Drive, near Otay Mesa.  The home received flood damage on the first floor of the house, as well as the yard. The cars in the driveway were drenched as well.  Water was gushing from the broken hydrant for nearly 20 minutes, according to the homeowner, Gary Birtwell.  "It was coming in through the backdoor," Birtwell said. "We had about 6 inches of water in the back yard that basically filled up above the door. And it was coming in through a closed window on the side of the house. We had water that came in through the ventilation." A neighbor's security video captured what appears to be a white SUV pulling into the curb then hitting the hydrant. Water begins gushing, and the SUV takes off.  Police officers took the neighbor's security video from the scene and were looking for more footage of the incident. 1015

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The wife of an active-duty Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton is due in court Thursday on charges of sexually abusing a 15-year-old foreign exchange student who was living with her family on the base.Nicole Marie Wilson, 22, is accused of engaging in sex acts with the unidentified teen on Sept. 20 against his wishes, according to court documents.A detention hearing is scheduled Thursday morning for Wilson, who pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a single count of sexual abuse of a minor in San Diego federal court.Court documents allege Wilson sat next to the boy on the living room couch and asked him to promise that he wouldn't tell her husband, no matter "whatever happens tonight."After their initial encounter made him uncomfortable, the boy told investigators he went to sleep and awoke to Wilson touching him, then performing oral sex on him. She asked him twice whether she should continue, and one time he said, "No," yet she continued anyway, then later had sexual intercourse with him, according to the criminal complaint.She later "apologized" to him "and acknowledged" that it was not consensual, the documents allege.Wilson allegedly told Naval Criminal Investigative Service investigators she had been drinking on Sept. 20 and "blacked out" while watching television with the boy, but denied anything sexual occurred. But a search of her cell phone revealed WhatsApp messages between herself and the teen that confirmed the sexual encounter, court documents allege.It was not clear how long the teen had been living with the family, nor what country he traveled from as part of the foreign exchange program. 1648

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - 10News was there as an emotional burglary victim was reunited with her stolen Pekachu puppy.Ashley Morales was overcome with emotion as young Lorenz Lugg placed her 4-month-old puppy back in her arms. "I can't believe it. I never thought I would get him back," said Morales.On Monday, a distraught Morales sat down with 10news after a Sunday morning burglary at her Spring Valley condo on Madrid Way. As her children slept inside, a neighbor's surveillance cameras captured several suspects as they walked in and out of the condo. Missing from the home: a television, jewelry, and Snuffles the Pekachu."I just want my dog back," said Morales, as she pleaded for her puppy's return. What she didn't know was that her puppy was at Payd 2 Fade barber shop in the College Area. Shop owner Roc Lugg says early Monday afternoon, a man resembling the suspect in the video came in with a story."He had the dog, but was homeless and living out of his vehicle. Couldn't afford to take care of the dog anymore," said Lugg. When Lugg saw how well the dog was interacting with his own dog, he decided to purchase the puppy to give him a better home. He paid 0. Later that day, his wife got a big shock as she was watching 10news. She realized their new puppy was actually someone else's. Their young son led the charge to reunite puppy and owner."I was desperate to find them and give it back to them. He needed to be home," said Lorenz Lugg.The family called 10news and we called Morales. ="I'm glad humanity is still thriving ... I'm over the moon. I got my baby back. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - 10News is learning more about how suspected Poway shooter John Earnest got the weapon. On Thursday, investigators revealed that they believe he got his rifle from a licensed dealer.In federal documents released on Thursday, prosecutors report, “The firearm was manufactured by Smith & Wesson in Princeton, Illinois and shipped to Springfield, Massachusetts where it was assembled. The firearm was ultimately transferred, via Fort Worth, Texas, to a Federal Firearm Licensed (FFL) Dealer in San Diego, California, which sold the firearm to Earnest. Earnest picked up the rifle on April 26, 2019.”That was the day before the shooting.In a press conference on Thursday, Southern District of California U.S. Attorney Shane Harrigan told reporters, “I can say that there is no allegation that the defendant violated federal law when he acquired the rifle that he used in the violent attack on the synagogue.”Questions still remain as to whether state law was violated. Earnest is only 19 years-old.California law requires that adults be over 21 years-old before they can buy a firearm, unless they have a hunting license, are current or former military, or are in law enforcement.Prosecutors wouldn't comment on whether Earnest had a hunting license. “That allegation isn't in the complaint but please understand that as the criminal process moves forward, more information may be available to the public,” added Harrigan.District Attorney Summer Stephan originally said that the rifle had been obtained legally, but when pressed on Wednesday by 10News, she didn't provide a clear answer. “I don't want to [comment any further] because it's a pending case,” she said.At Thursday’s press conference, a reporter asked the federal prosecution about when Earnest purchased his 60 rounds of ammunition.
