Santa Ana winds can wreak havoc on dry brush, which is especially built up after last winter’s heavy rains. ReadySanDiego created a four-step process to help you prepare your family for a disaster. Make a Plan Survivors of the 2007 Cedar Fire had just minutes to escape flames right at their doors, leaving belongings behind. Experts say you should have items to get through three days independently, along with the family heirlooms you can’t replace. Creating a plan also involves a discussion with your family. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Frustrated business owners in the Midway District say an old strip club was a better neighbor than the current property owner, which happens to be a church. The Rock Church bought the strip club, formerly known as The Body Shop, in August of 2018. Now, businesses say nothing has changed except there’s now more trash and drugs. Neighbors say they want the church to clean it up. Noor Shamoon comes to work at Navis Pack and Shop to a very unwelcome sight. “Food, trash feces on wall, on our vehicles.”He says it’s a foul odor and claims people who hang out in the area vandalized the businesses work truck. Employees at the Midas muffler business across the street also say trash and loitering have become huge problems. “We're trying to run a business and it's hard when you have that across the street,” said Gary Stricker. People who work in the area say prostitution is rampant as are drugs. One man reportedly overdosed recently. “I think he maybe shot up some kind of drug or something. We were concerned about him so we called an ambulance,” Stricker said. When The Rock Church dropped the banner over the “nude girls” sign at the former strip club, they promised to clean up the neighborhood. Since the church purchased the property for .3 million, they haven’t touched it. "I hope they do something about that to clean the place up you know,” Stricker said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Demonstrators gathered Friday outside San Diego Police Department's headquarters and marched through the streets downtown in protest of the Wisconsin shooting of Jacob Blake.Sky10 was live overhead as protesters marched through the streets, some carrying flags, to demonstrate. The gathering occurred on the same day as the March on Washington in the nation's capital, where thousands rallied on the 57th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.SDPD shut down Broadway and E Street between 14th and 15th streets, on the north and south sides of downtown SDPD headquarters in preparation for the protest. A flyer for the demonstration advertised the event as being in solidarity with protesters in Kenosha, Wisc., where Blake, a 29-year-old unarmed Black man, was shot seven times in the back by a police officer on Aug. 23.Officers have not said what led up to the shooting, but video shot by a neighbor shows Blake walking to an SUV and attempting to enter it moments before an officer grabs him by the shirt and shoots him.Blake is reportedly paralyzed from his wounds and recovering in a hospital.Sky10 video showed one individual being detained by police during the gathering. Police say they stopped a vehicle following the crowd after it ran at least one red light. During the stop, SDPD said the crowd also stopped and a suspect from the crowd "sprayed a chemical irritant spray at a line of officers."Four people were arrested, according to police: one for battery on an officer and resisting arrest with violence, and the remaining three for resisting/obstructing officers. SDPD later added that two people were arrested for shining a laser at officers and a police helicopter. Three more people were arrested later in the night, according to police. They said someone punched an officer and when police were in the process of arresting that person, two other people tried to interfere. All were arrested. 1967

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Divorce can be financially crippling and takes an emotional toll on all involved.The creators of Vesta: Redefining Divorce know that firsthand. "There are things that happened, you know, I lost lots of family members during that time because they really don't understand the dynamic of divorce," said Bob Vona, a co-founder of Vesta. He created Vesta alongside Deanna Coyle to help others going through what can be a grueling process."What Vesta has tried to do is really educate people as to what question's you need to ask your attorneys, what questions you need to ask your financial advisors," said Vona. The program began in Boston and is now expanding to Southern California.Through free boot camps, Vona says people will have access to highly vetted professionals, including attorneys, financial advisors, divorce coaches, realtors, mortgage consultants, and college planning specialists. "We see time and time again, people make one mistake after another after they sign on the dotted line, and they've hurt themselves financially for the rest of their lives," said Vona. "No matter how much money you make, it's automatically causing an increase of expenses that's a burden," said Vona. Vesta founders say the boot camps are beneficial to people going through divorce, contemplating divorce, or recovering from divorce. And in an often isolated journey, the boot camps provide a support system, letting people know they aren't in this process alone. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Hepatitis A is a microscopic killer that is very hard to kill. The virus can last weeks, even months, on a dry surface, according to the Centers For Disease Control And Prevention.“The majority of infected individuals will not have symptoms, but few will have symptoms,” Dr. Tarek Hassanein, professor of medicine at UCSD, said.San Diego County is in the midst of a Hepatitis A epidemic.The virus is known to have sickened 421 people and killed 16 in San Diego County.RELATED: Customers at San Diego restaurant may have been exposed to hepatitis AThe outbreak started with the homeless and drug using population.Now it has spread to the general population, with nearly 50 documented cases of people becoming sick, who have no ties to homeless or drug users, according to the San Diego County Public Health Department.Epidemiologists are still trying to find anything the people may have in common, but so far have not found any link.Crews are power-washing sidewalks with a bleach solution in East Village downtown.RELATED:  1057
