PODGORICA, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Li Changchun, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), arrived in Podgorica on Thursday for a three-day official goodwill visit to Montenegro.Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, said in a statement issued upon his arrival that he hopes his visit will bring bilateral relations between China and Montenegro to a higher level."I am looking forward to holding in-depth discussions with Montenegrin leaders during the visit on major international and regional issues," he said. Li Changchun (R, front), a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), visits Tallinn University of Technology in Tallinn, Estonia, on Sept. 23, 2010.He added he hopes the visit will help further strengthen friendship, boost mutual trust, deepen cooperation and realize common development between the two sides.During his stay in Montenegro, Li will meet with the prime minister and the parliament speaker of Montenegro.The two sides are expected to sign a number of agreements covering economic and technology cooperation.Montenegro was the second leg of Li's four-nation tour which will also take him to Ireland and Iran. BEIJING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese companies' overseas investment rose 10.4 percent year on year in the first nine months even as global investment as a whole dropped sharply over the period, a senior Chinese official said Tuesday.Chinese companies invested 36.3 billion U.S. dollars overseas in the first three quarters, excluding investments in financial sectors, as other other companies, hit by the global downturn, reduced overseas investment, Zhang Xiaoqiang, vice chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, China's top economic planning agency, said at the opening of the 2nd China Overseas Investment Fair in Beijing.China has emerged as a major source of foreign direct investment (FDI) outflows.Although global FDI outflows dropped 40 percent year on year in 2009, China's overseas investments rose 14.2 percent year on year to 47.8 billion U.S. dollars, said Zhang.By the end of 2009, more than 12,000 Chinese firms had set up 13,000 overseas enterprises in 170 countries and regions, he said.The National Development and Reform Commission approved the two-day Second China Overseas Investment Fair, which the China Industrial Overseas Development and Planning Association (CIODPA) and China Development Bank are co-hosting.Representatives of government, multinational companies, international organizations and financial institutions from more than 120 countries gathered at the trade fair to persuade Chinese investors to invest overseas.

CAIRO, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese and Egyptian industry officials vowed closer bilateral economic ties on Sunday with the signing of an industrial cooperation agreement.Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Rachid Mohamed Rachid met with Chinese Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Yizhong. Both talked about the expansion and improvement of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.Rachid told reporters that he hoped the new agreement would pave the way for more cooperation in different industry sectors including manufacturing of cars components, textiles, petrochemicals, electronics and technology."This agreement includes the process of sharing technology and increasing investment in the industrial sector and training of workers as well as helping Egyptian companies promote their products in the Chinese markets," said the Egyptian minister.The agreement also included the formation of an Egyptian- Chinese task force that takes the responsibility of sharing information and experiments in the industrial sectors and encouraging Egyptian and Chinese firms to establish joint ventures in different areas of cooperation, according to Rachid.Rachid said that Egypt wanted to benefit from the successful Chinese experience in the industrial sector.Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif also met with the Chinese minister. The prime minister said Egypt shows great interest in boosting cooperation with China.The bilateral trade between Egypt and China increased from 3 billion U.S. dollars in 2006 to 6.24 billion dollars in 2008, according to Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Wu Chunhua.By the end of last year, Chinese investment in Egypt exceeded 500 million U.S. dollars. Chinese auto companies such as Chery Automobile and Brilliance Automobile have had assembly lines here in Egypt.Rachid expected that the Egyptian-Chinese cooperation would witness a great milestone in all sectors, particularly the trade and industry relations thanks to exchanges in the economic and political levels.
