BEIJING, April 29 (Xinhua) -- China's parliament on Thursday adopted the Law on Guarding State Secrets and the amended State Compensation Law at the closing session.Wu Bangguo，chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People' s Congress, or the top legislature, presided over the closing of the four-day bimonthly session.Wu said, the amendment to the State Compensation Law will regulate the use of public power, protect legitimate rights and interests of citizens, legal persons and social organizations. The 14th session of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC) concludes in Beijing, capital of China, on April 29, 2010. Wu Bangguo, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over the concluding meeting.Wu said, the Law on Guarding State Secrets has made clear legal liability in guarding state secrets, which will help safeguard the state security and interests.The legislature also reviewed the report on migrant workers which stressed protecting the rights and interests of this group and improving social services for them. Wu also urged to quicken the pace of urbanization.The Standing Committee reviewed the report on the development of cultural industry which urged greater development of the industry so that it becomes a new engine of economic growth.Wu said the Committee also reviewed the report on road traffic management.

BEIJING, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao's upcoming visit to Brazil, Venezuela and Chile will be significant to furthering comprehensive development of China-Latin America relations, a senior Chinese diplomat said on Wednesday.Vice Foreign Minister Li Jinzhang told a press briefing that Hu will pay a state visit to Brazil and attend the second summit of the BRIC countries - Brazil, Russia, India and China - in Brasilia from April 14 to 17, make a state visit to Venezuela from April 17 to 18 and a working visit to Chile on April 18."China and Latin American countries, all as developing countries, share extensive common interests. China has always attached great importance to its relations with these countries," Li said.China-Latin America relations have maintained a good momentum of comprehensive and sustained growth with increased political mutual trust, expansion of cooperation and more frequent cultural exchanges, he said.Hu's visit will be made at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Venezuelan President Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias and Chilean President Sebastian Pinera.Hu will hold talks with President Lula and meet other leaders on furthering China-Brazil ties and boosting cooperation on major global issues, Li saidThe two countries will ink a joint action plan from 2010 to 2014 and agreements in the fields of culture, energy, finance, science and technology as well as product quality inspection, he said. NINGBO, Zhejiang, May 16 (Xinhua) -- European customers benefit from Chinese exports and all parties should work to build a fair, level playing field in international trade, said a senior official of the European Commission in an exclusive interview with Xinhua here on Sunday."We are working to create a level playing field which gives opportunity, diversified choices and good prices to our customers," said Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the European Commission, the executive arm of the European Union, in a forum on the sidelines of the Expo 2010 in Shanghai.Kroes said international trade was a bit comparable to road traffic. "Most of us respect the rules of the game, but if one or two are not respecting the rules and the red lights, there will be an accident," she said.In the case of China-EU trade relations, "most of the parties in the games are respecting the rules, and only one percent is not taking the rules into account, and that is the subject that we called anti-dumping," she said.Recently, China-EU trade relations were marred by a dispute over imports of certain Chinese-made shoes with EU ministers voting last December to extend import duties on Chinese shoes for another 15 months.Earlier last month, the European Commission rejected a complaint by China to the World Trade Organization that EU's anti-dumping tariffs on imports of Chinese shoes breached WTO rules."Making shoes is a traditional skill of my village and we are good at making shoes.
