Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued an executive order on Friday limiting certain businesses and services as part of the state’s effort to contain the spread of COVID-19.This decision comes as the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 and the number of hospitalizations have increased and the positivity rate in Texas increased above 10%, which the Governor previously stated would lead to further preventative action.“As I said from the start if the positivity rate rose above 10%, the State of Texas would take further action to mitigate the spread of COVID-19,” Governor Abbott said. “At this time, it is clear that the rise in cases is largely driven by certain types of activities, including Texans congregating in bars. The actions in this executive order are essential to our mission to swiftly contain this virus and protect public health. We want this to be as limited in duration as possible. However, we can only slow the spread if everyone in Texas does their part. Every Texan has a responsibility to themselves and their loved ones to wear a mask, wash their hands, stay six feet apart from others in public, and stay home if they can. Texas Democratic Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke said at a CNN town hall Thursday night that he would still vote to impeach President Donald Trump.The El Paso congressman challenging Sen. Ted Cruz said that his position on impeachment hadn't changed, even as Cruz has used the issue to galvanize conservative voters against O'Rourke's campaign.Asked by CNN's Dana Bash if he had changed his mind after saying he'd vote to impeach Trump this summer, O'Rourke said, "I haven't."He pointed to the ongoing probe into whether Trump's 2016 campaign colluded with Russia."There may be an open question as to whether the President, then the candidate, sought to collude with the Russian government in 2016," O'Rourke said. Sunbeam Products has issued a voluntary recall of more than 940,000 Crock-Pot multi-cookers in the United States and Canada due to a burn hazard.According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recall notice, the Crock-Pot? 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cookers, model number SCCPPC600-V1, were sold at Walmart, Target, Amazon, and other online and nationwide retailers from July 2017 through Nov. 2020 for between to 0.According to the website, the recalled product can pressurize when the lid is not fully locked, which can "cause the lid to suddenly detach while the product is in use, posing burn risks to consumers from hot food and liquids ejected from the product."Sunbeam, which owns Crock-Pot, recalled 914,430 affected products in the U.S., along with another 28,330 cookers in Canada, after receiving "119 reports of lid detachment, resulting in 99 burn injuries ranging in severity from first-degree to third-degree burns," the CPSC stated.Sunbeam manufactured the multi-cookers between July 1, 2017, and October 1, 2018.The notice says date codes K196JN through K365JN and L001JN through L273JN are engraved on a prong of the electrical plugs and the bottom of the base.Consumers should stop using the recalled product in pressure cooker mode immediately. Tara Batista spent a week in the hospital after visiting one of her favorite spas for a pedicure. Now she's tethered to a picc line for six weeks and under the daily care of a home health nurse.Batista, who sings at Puerto Rican festivals, says the ordeal has turned her life upside down emotionally, physically and economically.Tampa-based WFTS asked if there was anything different about this pedicure and Batista said she told the woman working on her feet to ease up a bit because it felt like the instruments were digging too far into her skin.Batista says she began to feel weak hours after leaving Nail Image in Tampa. By the next day she experienced extreme fatigue and pains began shooting up her leg.A day and a half later family members drove Batista to the emergency room when part of her foot turned black and she could not stand on her left leg. Doctors diagnosed her with a severe infection. Batista underwent surgery and remained in the hospital for a week. WFTS obtained her medical records which cite a deep injury triggered by a bacterial infection on her left big toe.WFTS took the hospital report to Nail Image along with the receipt from her pedicure. The owner refused to comment. There is no conclusive proof that the pedicure caused the infection.Lee Timberlake instructs students at the Artistic Nails and Beauty academy in Tampa. She spends 155 hours of a 240 hour curriculum teaching sanitizing and disinfecting procedures.Timberlake who has taught nail technicians for 10 years says instruments should be scrubbed then placed into a disinfectant between every customer. Surveillance video may shed light on the mysterious death of a young Chicago woman whose body was found in a hotel freezer last week. The case sparked accusations of foul play on social media.Police in Rosemont, a suburb northwest of Chicago, said Kenneka Jenkins, 19, was last seen early Saturday, September 9, at a party at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare Hotel. Her family reported her missing later that day, and Jenkins' body was found in the walk-in freezer at the hotel shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday. The results of an autopsy by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office are pending. 598
