LOCKPORT, N.Y.  — A woman went into labor while watching the original version of the horror movie "The Purge" at the Transit Drive-In Theater in Lockport, New York. The woman's car would not start because the battery had gone dead, making things even more stressful."It was code red," said owner Rick Cohen with a laugh, who admits that he was worried the baby was going to be born on the spot. In addition, the movie was still playing, making a rescue in the dark more challenging.The Transit Drive-in was built in 1952 and has been operated by Cohen's family since 1957. During the rescue, Cohen was thinking "hot towels, hot water and hopefully not too big of a mess." The drive-in owner has has no children or experience in the delivery room.Cohen was able to use a portable battery pack and flashlight to start the car and escort the woman and her very nervous husband safely to the exit.Social media has also taken a liking to this story with numerous people posting "Congratulations" and "Close call! Could have been the first baby born at the Transit Drive-In.""I guess the baby was in a hurry to come see a movie," said Cohen with a chuckle, who is hoping to meet the parents again.  "I wish them the best but would really like to know how they made out."In the rush to get the couple out of the drive-in and on the way to the hospital, Cohen said he never thought to find out who the parents were and what hospital they were going to.While he has encountered many things in his years as a drive-in movie operator, Cohen said he has never had a situation where a woman began to give birth — especially during a horror movie. 1701

The series, which captured America’s unease as it faces racial clashes amid a pandemic, was nominated as best limited series and received bids for cast members including Regina King and Jeremy Irons.Leslie Jones kicked off the reading of this year's Emmy nominations. Jones opened the virtual presentation by joking that she was locked on a set with only a cameraman. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Three men and three women were arrested for allegedly toppling and vandalizing a statue of President George Washington in Grand Park, authorities said Saturday.The vandalism occurred about 6:40 p.m. Thursday in the downtown park at 200 N. Grand Ave. in the Civic Center, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.Officers monitoring a nearby protest saw people pulling on red bands tied to the statue's neck, police said.The statue broke off of its base and fell to the ground, where it was spray-painted as the six suspects and others cheered and celebrated, police said.The suspects then hid nearby to change their clothes and conceal items in their backpacks to avoid arrest, police said. But police were waiting when they left the protest at Spring and Temple streets and the six suspects were arrested.Officers recovered items during the arrest including a gas mask, laser pointer, helmet, goggles, arm protectors and change of clothing, police said.The suspects were identified as Elizabeth Brookey, 19, of Burbank; Christopher Woodard, 33, of Los Angeles; Anna Asher, 28, of North Hollywood; Emma Juncosa, 23, of Los Angeles; Andrew Johnson, 22, of Glendale and Barham Lashley, 30, of North Hollywood.The case will be presented to the District Attorney's office for consideration of felony filings, police said. 1351

Long lines of voters were reported in Ohio and Indiana Tuesday as early voting began in those states. So far, more than 4.5 million ballots have already been cast in the 2020 Presidential Election, according to the U.S. Elections Project.Mail-in, absentee or early in-person voting is already underway in 39 states, according to the Associated Press, with more to follow.In Ohio on Tuesday, hundreds waited outside board offices in Hamilton, Franklin and Cuyahoga counties, which serve voters from the three biggest cities of Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland, respectively. Similar lines were reported across Ohio, and they remained long hours after voting started.The U.S. Elections Project has return data for 23 states who are already collecting early votes or mail-in ballots, and shows 4,526,562 ballots have been collected in those states so far. The project is run by a professor at the University of Florida who has tracked voter turnout since 2000.A handful of states report party registration data of the ballots requested and returned. Those seven states account for nearly 1.6 million returned ballots so far. Of those, just over 50 percent of returned ballots are from voters who had registered with the state Democratic party.“I strongly caution that Democrats’ unprecedented high levels of early voting should not be taken as an indicator of the final election results,” Professor Michael McDonald warns. LOS ANGELES, (KGTV) – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced that the agency is offering ,000 for information on the whereabouts of stolen firearms believed to be in San Diego.Authorities with the bureau say 18 firearms were stolen from Turner’s Outdoorsman in the early morning hours of May 1.Officials added that one person is already in custody for the theft, but that ATF is asking for help identifying the location of the guns.“Firearms theft from licensed gun dealers is one of the top priorities for ATF,” said McMullan. “Experience shows these guns will likely end up being used in a crime. These guns in the hands of criminals endanger everyone’s safety.
