A pair of children, ages 1 and 3, were shot inside of a car Thursday evening outside the University Of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, the Jackson Police Chief told the Clarion-Ledger reported. The shooting briefly prompted fears of an active shooter on the university's campus, causing a heavy police response. The Clarion-Ledger reported that one child was shot in the leg, and the other in the torso. A prank gone wrong landed two men in jail and has potentially scarred a little girl for life.At about 10 p.m. local time on Saturday, 25-year-old Vernon Barrett was wearing a clown mask and chasing his 6-year-old daughter outside their apartment in Boardman, Ohio, according to Youngstown's WKBN-TV.According to witnesses, the girl, obviously terrified, was screaming and ran into the unlocked apartment of neighbor Dion Santiago, 48.According to WFMJ-TV, Santiago told police that when the girl ran in to his apartment, he looked out the window and saw a man in a clown mask on the lawn. Santiago then grabbed his gun and fired a warning shot out the window.When police arrived at the scene, Barrett told them he was "playing a prank" on his daughter, according to WFMJ.WKBN reported that Barrett told officers he was trying to scare the girl because she'd been having behavioral issues at school and he thought this would straighten her out.Barrett was arrested for child endangering and inducing panic. A new study about video gamers pretty much shatters the stereotype many people have about them.Researchers at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia conducted what they say is the first study on body mass index from a worldwide sample of e-sports players. What they found surprised even them.“When we went into the study, we were kind of expecting that the gamers would have a much higher BMI than the general population, but what we found was the complete opposite. We found that players tended to have up to 21% more likelihood of being a normal weight,” said lead researcher Michael Trotter.The study included hundreds of participants from 65 countries. It showed gamers were between 9% and 21% more likely to be a healthy weight. Players also drank less and smoked less than the general population.Trotter started the university's e-sports program before he started studying for his PhD. He says he was surprised that serious players focused on their health almost as much as their playing. He says players requested a personal trainer, a dietician, and a sports psychologist.The study also found the healthier players were the better players.“We found that the players who were in the top 10% of all players and we measured up to 2.5 thousand players, it wasn't a small study. We found the top 10% of all players were exercising significantly more than their lower ranked counterparts,” said Trotter.Trotter says the growth of e-sports is huge and future programs will need to look at this study and realize they must focus on the health of players.He also says future research will need to be done on the overall health of e-sports players, such as muscle mass and bone density. 1706

A search for a missing 5-year-old boy in Tennessee turned into a homicide investigation Saturday after authorities arrested his father.Joe Clyde Daniels' parents reported him missing Wednesday, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. It issued an Endangered Child Alert as hundreds of volunteers and law enforcement officers frantically searched near Joe's home in Dickson, Tennessee."After a three-day search, it was determined that the child's father, Joseph Daniels, intentionally killed his son sometime during the night of April 3-4, in their residence and then hid his son's body," the TBI said.The boy's father confessed to killing his son, Dickson County Sheriff Jeff Bledsoe said. 714
