Boeing's 737 MAX jets will remain grounded for weeks after the Federal Aviation Administration said Monday afternoon that the plane maker continues to work on a software fix.Boeing had said it would submit the fix to the FAA last week, and it had gathered hundreds of industry representatives at its Seattle-area facilities last Wednesday to demonstrate the software changes. But the FAA said Monday that the company concluded "additional work" is needed."The FAA expects to receive Boeing's final package of its software enhancement over the coming weeks for FAA approval," the agency said in a statement. "Time is needed for additional work by Boeing as the result of an ongoing review of the 737 MAX Flight Control System to ensure that Boeing has identified and appropriately addressed all pertinent issues."Boeing acknowledged the new timeline, saying in a statement that the software change would be "completed in the coming weeks." It did not say why the timeline had changed."Safety is our first priority, and we will take a thorough and methodical approach to the development and testing of the update to ensure we take the time to get it right," the company said.American Airlines said Monday afternoon that it was aware the MAX "may be further delayed" in returning to service. It has been forced to cancel dozens of flights daily while the planes await a fix.American 1391

ARLINGTON, Va. – As coronavirus closes schools across America, those campuses are engulfed in silence. It’s a worrisome reality that Justine Springberg feels for her students. “I have the students who are almost all of them receive free and reduced lunch,” said Springberg, a teacher at Yorktown High School in Arlington, Virginia. About 25% of the students in that district receive free or reduced meals at school. Districts across the country have tried to get food to students by making breakfast and lunch meals available to go each day, instead of serving them in the cafeteria, as they would during the school year and summer. Despite those district efforts to still provide those meals, though, some teachers feared for the students’ families. “We just picked up the phone and started talking to each other and she said, ‘you know, I really think that this is going to be not enough. I'm very afraid for my students.’ and I said, ‘ditto,’” said Laurie Vena, another teacher in Arlington, VA. So, they decided to take action by raising money via a 1066

An employee in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives headquarters building Thursday opened a package that contained a liquid substance and the employee said she felt sick right after opening it, according to law enforcement officials. It is not clear what the substance is, one of the officials told CNN. The mail is screened off site so it is unclear if this package was delivered some other way or if it made it through screening, said one official. The headquarters in Washington, DC, was evacuated after the suspicious package was discovered.A HAZMAT crew responded to the scene and left the building shortly before 4:40 p.m. Thursday, according to April Langwell, the head of ATF Public Affairs.Langwell said that the field test of the substance is "clear" and they are sending the substance that was found in an envelope opened by an employee to a lab for further analysis. She said the package was "not the usual suspicious package."Langwell told CNN that it appears that only one person was affected by the package, which was opened at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday. There were still first responders in the building as of 5 p.m. Thursday, but people were being allowed back into the building.Police, firefighters and paramedics from Washington, DC, responded to the scene. 1303
