Border Patrol says 35-year-old Michael Domenech approached the checkpoint on Interstate 8 near Pine Valley, in a car at about 2 a.m. Saturday.When agents approached the driver, he drove away from the checkpoint. Red Sox pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez is done for the season, following complications from a condition he suffered from the coronavirus. He was diagnosed in early July with the coronavirus.He was set to return to the team by mid-month, however a health screening discovered a heart condition that will sideline Rodriguez for the 2020 season. Rodriguez is 27 years old.The condition is called myocarditis, when the heart becomes inflamed. Inflammation of the heart muscle was recently identified in two studies looking at lingering health effects in coronavirus survivors.Rodriguez did not experience chest pain or any symptoms, according to multiple media outlets.The condition was revealed during an MRI to check his heart following COVID-19.He said the experience was eye opening, but that having a mother who is a nurse has helped put his mind at ease.“The heart is the most important part of your body, so when you hear that — the first time that I heard it — I was kind of scared,” Rodriguez told Mass Live on July 26. “Now that I know what it is, it’s still scary, but now I know exactly what it is. Just talk to my mom, talk to my wife, they know what I have and everything. Now we just gotta take the rest. That’s hard, but you gotta take a rest.''According to the Mayo Clinic, “Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart muscle (myocardium). (KGTV) - Forest service officials are alerting San Diegans to keep their eyes out for rattlesnakes around property and on local trails as spring sets in.Cleveland National Forest officials found a young rattlesnake hiding in the shade under a drainage pipe at the department's Palomar district office in Ramona this week.The snake was captured and released unharmed, officials said, though "still angry."RELATED: What to do in the event of a rattlesnake biteDespite last year's trends, San Diego has been enjoying a lull in rattlesnake calls. The county has recorded a total of 82 calls since the beginning of 2018, according to Daniel DeSousa, director at the county Department of Animal Services.Last year, San Diego saw a surge in rattlesnake calls to the county. Most of those calls occurred in April but continued well into June. Between January 2017 and March 2017, the county saw 177 calls for rattlesnakes. That number rose to 232 the next month.Traditionally as San Diego heats up, sightings could increase."Due to our very temperate climate, rattlesnakes can be found year round in our County, in communities ranging from the coast to the deserts," DeSousa said during last year's spike. "But snake sightings may spike during hot spells."When encountering a rattlesnake, residents should keep a safe distance away and call county animal services.
