SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Sir Paul McCartney will rock San Diego's Petco Park once again next year.The legendary Beatles musician is taking his "Freshen Up" world tour to San Diego on June 22, 2019. Tickets will go on sale to the public Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. A link to tickets isn't available yet, but will be posted here.The stop is in support of McCartney's recent album "Egypt Station," which topped the Billboard 200 chart following its Sept. 7 release. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Saturday was a picturesque day in San Diego with many people enjoying outdoor dining, but the opportunity is slipping away due to Governor Gavin Newsom’s new stay-at-home orders.“We have a really close community of workers here, and to see it shut down again is really sad,” Abby Pekary said.Pekary has been welcoming guests into Little Italy’s Nonna for more than two years. By Monday, she could be out of a job due to Newsom’s new orders.Pekary is a full-time student at San Diego State University, hostessing to save up to eventually move out of her parent’s house.Her latest obstacle from the state is Newsom’s regional shutdown order, limiting restaurants to takeout or delivery only. The order also forces bars and wineries to close amid COVID-19.“I had a couple people who during the first shutdown they actually moved back to Bay Area because they were living here and just because they were out of a job they had to live with their families,” Pekary added.Unlike the first shutdown in March of 2020, there is no federal stimulus to cushion the fall. Restaurants and employees are left to fend for themselves under the new order. “Of course we're still open for takeout, so if you want to do that, that's always an option for ya.”Restaurants say there likely aren’t enough takers to keep jobs, or at least hours, from being cut. 1364

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Seven people were displaced following a house fire in Mountain View early Saturday morning, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue.The fire was reported just after 3:30 a.m. on Teak Street near Ocean View Boulevard. Crews quickly responded and were able to get the blaze under control. The home that burned sits on a lot with a second home in front, and the front house was not damaged.Family and residents of the front house said they believe the fire started from a washer/dryer unit. They also said that they had to pull bars off of a window to help people escape, with those outside pulling and those inside kicking on the bars. Four people were were hurt after climbing through the broken window.Crews say a total of seven people were displaced and the American Red Cross was called in to help, but family on scene said everyone is okay. They said the hardest part is realizing they lost everything, including Christmas presents that the two little girls who lived in the burned home had just unwrapped the day before.The family started a GoFundMe to raise money following the fire. 1112

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego's District Attorney's Office Wednesday says the officer who fatally shot a man who had attacked another person with a machete in Southcrest acted in self defense.After review the case and officer's actions, DA Summer Stephen's office says Officer Corey Pitts, who fired upon Vaughn Denham on Aug. 8, 2018, is not criminally liable for the shooting.Denham, 48, has reportedly attacked another person with a machete during an argument over a dog chain. Pitts used a Taser but it didn't stop Denham, forcing Pitts to retreat for a block and a half while he continued to order Denham to drop the chain and get on the ground.The DA's office added Pitts warned Denham he would shoot if he continued to refuse. Pitts eventually fired two rounds, striking Denham.Denham later died at the hospital. The Stephen's office says a toxicology report showed phencyclidine (PCP), cannabinoids, and methamphetamine in his system."Based on these circumstances, Pitts fired at Denham in his own defense," the office's review states. "He therefore bears no state criminal liability for his actions."In addition to clearing Pitts of any criminal wrongdoing, the DA's office released nearly two minutes of body camera footage from the incident. 1751

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego’s City Council voted Tuesday to expand the social host ordinance to include marijuana and controlled substances. Before the vote, the ordinance only addressed underage drinking, but not drugs. The amendment, which was approved unanimously, will now go before the council for a second reading before it becomes law. “As a mom, the safety of my children is my priority, and as City Attorney, I am committed to protecting every child,” City Attorney Mara W. Elliott said. Working with Police Chief David Nisleit, we will educate the public about this ordinance, and hold accountable those who choose to ignore it,” Elliott continued. According to the city, Proposition 64 opened the door for increased marijuana by minors. “Sometimes underage use is assisted by well-meaning adults who mistakenly believe its dangers decrease when the use occurs in environments they host,” the city said in a news release. 1199
