The flower fields have been around for 50 years. The Flower Fields are owned and operated by the Ecke Family, the onsite grower and floral sales is handled by Mellano and Company. They share their passion for beauty and expertise inthe flower business, with a combined experience of 100 years. The Flowers Fields are known all over the world. There is no other place like it with over 50 acres of ranunculus flowers in 13 different colors. The flowers are delicate, its seed is tiny, paper thin, and smaller than an oat flake. The seed has to be mixed with water and sand, then it is placed in a cooler for two weeks to trick the seed into thinking it had a winter. Ranunculus do best in temperate climate. Morning fog, cool mornings, and temperatures in the 50s and 60s help the flower production. The flower fields are ecofriendly, they use a drip irrigation system. It places water exactly where the seed is, using the water needed and not more than that.Extreme temperatures can be costly and one of the biggest threats to the crop. Winter warm ups are less than ideal but too much rain is also bad. The team at the Flower Fields has learned to tackle the weather, but every year presents new challenges. This year they are expecting the best season yet, you can visit the Flower Fields through Mother’s Day weekend. Next year expect a new color to be added to the already beautiful fields. 1402

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has asked the public’s help in identifying members of a female gang who have been spotted in Middle Tennessee.  The FBI said Felony Lane Gang members use rental cars with tinted windows to watch you and your car in parking lots at gyms, daycares or anywhere someone might leave a purse in a car. They have been spotted in Nashville, Mt. Juliet, Gallatin and several other towns around the Metro area. When they see an opportunity, they'll swipe IDs, credit cards and checkbooks. Then, they hand all of that over to prostitutes and drug users they recruit to impersonate victims. Those women take stolen checks and IDs to multiple banks to withdraw large amounts of money -- all before the victims have a chance to close their accounts.According to authorities, they use the farthest window from the teller in bank drive-thru lanes. This drive-thru lane is commonly known as the "felony lane," which is what inspired their nickname.Investigators said they’re known to use wigs and other disguises to impersonate their victims at banks. If you have information call the FBI office in Memphis at 615-232-7500.  1158

The Broadway League, the trade association that regulates theater performances in New York City, said Monday that all Broadway shows would be canceled through the end of 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The group says that those who have purchased tickets to shows before Jan. 3, 2021 will automatically receive an email detailing refund and exchange information."Every single member of our community is eager to get back to work sharing stories that inspire our audience through the transformative power of a shared live experience," Thomas Schumacher, the Broadway League's Chairman of the Board, said in a statement released Monday. "The safety of our cast, crew, orchestra and audience is our highest priority and we look forward to returning to our stages only when it’s safe to do so. One thing is for sure, when we return we will be stronger and more needed than ever.”“Our membership is working closely with the theatrical unions and in concert with key experts and some of the greatest minds inside and outside of the industry to explore protocols for all aspects of reopening. We are focused on identifying and implementing necessary measures that will enable us to resume performances safely for Broadway audiences and employees,” Charlotte St. Martin, the president of the Broadway League, said in a statement. “We are determined to bring back the people who rely on this industry for their livelihood, and to welcome back all those who love this vital part of New York City, as soon as it is safe to do so. The following column is written by Elie Honig, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.Last week, notorious Boston mafia boss Whitey Bulger was killed inside the high-security federal Hazelton Penitentiary in West Virginia. Bulger had just arrived at Hazelton the day prior. According to the Boston Globe, federal authorities are now focused on Fotios "Freddy" Geas, a former Massachusetts-based mafia hitman, as Bulger's killer. In 2011, I tried and convicted Geas, along with his brother Ty Geas and their mafia boss Arthur "Artie" Nigro for a string of vicious murders, murder attempt and murder conspiracies they committed in Massachusetts and New York. All three received life sentences. 740

The brother of an unarmed black man killed by police interrupted a Sacramento City Council meeting on Tuesday as chants of the victim's name filled the chambers, illustrating how the fatal shooting has sparked emotions in this California city."Stephon Clark. Stephon Clark," Stevante Clark and others chanted in the first meeting since the fatal shooting on March 18."Louder. Louder," said Stevante Clark, who hopped on the dais and yelled an expletive at Mayor Darrell Steinberg.Standing in front of the council chambers with others, Stevante Clark said: "The mayor and the city of Sacramento has failed all of you," citing high rent, gang violence and poverty in the city. The outburst forced council members to take a brief recess. 746
