BOSTON, Mass. – Everyone is on a journey, physically and mentally, according to 45-year-old Justice Williams. “We are like caterpillars in a cocoon becoming butterflies,” Williams said. “Everyone is in a constant battle over what our journey is with fitness and wellness.” Williams is a personal trainer, and even a life coach, who teaches his clients about fitness through the art of kettlebell training.Williams trains his clients and creates confidence with them. He also runs “Queer Gym,” one of a few workout spaces for the LGBTQ communities that’s made its wave throughout North America in recent years.Williams started the pop-up gym just outside of Boston, because of his own journey.“It’s a place people can work out in the LGBTQ community if they don’t feel comfortable in regular gyms,” Williams said. “Gym culture is so hyper-masculine. And during my journey, it was hard to be in those gyms.”Motivating people and building confidence is why Williams became a personal trainer. Williams is transgender. Ten years ago, Williams needed to lose weight before taking testosterone, but couldn’t find a personal trainer who understood the journey he was on. “I didn’t have a trainer,” Williams said. “I did things on my own, I taught myself. I learned more about how to be in my body, and how to mentally connect with my body differently. Even though I felt like it didn’t fit.”Williams said he never knew he could identify as transgender until he moved to Boston in his thirties. He said he went through some depression. But by using fitness and getting healthy, he was able to treat that.“I got used to being overweight and depressed and just being who I was,” Williams said. “There’s so many systems of oppression. The visual you get is that you’re almost digging your own grave with how oppression treats you. In my cocoon I basically had to understand loving my body regardless of what the world tells me -- it will ensure my health.”Williams hopes to bring that type of empowerment to clients like him. Not only through his training, but through Queer Gym.“I utilize this space to not only give information, but to create love,” Williams said. “I hope to create a space that is toxin free. I’m supporting these bodies to build an armor so they can go in other spaces and be their whole selves and make that normal. We are a cocoon and a community…and we make that crazy just a little bit better and that’s what I want to do. Because that helps that butterfly really fly.” 2495

Boeing on Sunday said some of its 737 planes, including many 737 Max aircraft, may have faulty parts on their wings. It's the latest problem Boeing faces as it tries to get its most important and popular airplane, the grounded 737 Max, back in the air.Working with the Federal Aviation Administration, Boeing said it has reached out to airlines that fly 737 planes, advising them to inspect their slat track assemblies on Max and NG aircraft. The 737 NG series includes the 737-600, -700, -800 and -900 planes.Leading edge slats are an aerodynamic control surface that extend from the front of the wing. Some the tracks may not meet manufacturing standards and may need to be replaced, Boeing and the FAA said. They said if the parts are found to be defective, airlines should replace them before returning the planes to service.The faulty parts could fail prematurely or crack. The FAA said a part failure would not bring down a plane, it could damage an aircraft while in flight.Boeing has sent out a service bulletin and the FAA will issue an airworthiness directive requiring airlines to inspect and repair its slat track assemblies within 10 days.The company discovered the problem Friday, when Boeing was meeting with the parts supplier. Boeing employees noticed some of the parts were not heat treated, which led them to believe there might be a safety issue.The development comes as Boeing seeks to get the 737 Max back in the air. The plane was grounded worldwide after a fatal crash of an Ethiopian Airlines jet in March, which followed a fatal crash of a Lion Air jet in Indonesia in October. Crash investigators have focused on an automatic safety feature on the jet as a possible contributor to the crashes.The newly discovered issue affects 148 slat tracks produced by a single supplier, Boeing said. The company said it believes 20 737 Max and 21 737 NG planes may have defective slat tracks. But the FAA advised airlines to check an additional 179 Max planes and 133 NGs to determine if there parts are also faulty. Of the group that needs to be inspected, 33 Max and 32 NG planes are in the United States.The company and the FAA said it has not been notified of any incidents related to the tracks on operating flights, and the fix should take a couple days to complete."We are committed to supporting our customers in every way possible as they identify and replace these potentially non-conforming tracks," said Kevin McAllister, CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, in a statement. 2512

As Virginia Beach mourns 12 people gunned down in a shooting rampage, more questions remain on why a veteran city engineer targeted people he'd worked with for years.The gunman fired indiscriminately Friday on a municipal building in the coastal city in Virginia before he died after a long shootout with police officers.As officials struggle for answers, Mayor Bobby Dyer has tried to quell both sides of the gun control debate, saying he wanted to avoid the "knee jerk reaction" and the "bipartisan bureaucratic malpractice.""There's a lack of civility. There's a lack of mutual respect. There's a lack of willingness to understand each other," Dyer said Saturday.Here is what we know so far -- and what we don't.The mass shooting and the targetWhat we know: The shooter was a "disgruntled employee" in the municipal building he attacked, a Virginia government source said.On Friday toward the end of the work day, he shot one person in a car and then entered the building where he fired at people on three floors.What we don't: Authorities are still searching for a motive, and those who knew him say they didn't see the horror coming."I guess the big question is, why? Brown, with four and a half years years in the public works department; Mary Louise Gayle, with 24 years in the department; and Alexander Mikhail Gusev, with nine years in the department.Also slain were engineers Tara Welch Gallagher, who spent six years in the city's public works department; Katherine A. Nixon, who worked in public utilities for 10 years; Richard H. Nettleton, who worked for the city's public utilities department for 28 years; and Christopher Kelly Rapp, who had been in public works for 11 months.Joshua O.
