JPMorgan Chase, which is the parent company of Chase Bank, announced this week plans to make it easier for those with criminal pasts to be considered for employment with the company. As part of JPMorgan Chase's new initiative, the company will no longer ask employees to reveal if they have a criminal past during the application process. The company said this initiative allows for those with criminal backgrounds to receive the same consideration as any other applicant, when their background has no bearing on job requirements.The company said that in 2018, the company hired 2,100 people with criminal backgrounds, which represented 10 percent of all new hires for the year. JPMorgan Chase said those hired generally had been charged with low level offenses such as disorderly conduct, personal drug possession and DUI. These applicants were hired for positions in entry-levels jobs such as transaction processing, and lending and account servicing.“Business has a responsibility to partner with policy, business and community leaders to create an economy that works for more people. When someone cannot get their foot in the door to compete for a job, it is bad for business and bad for communities that need access to economic opportunity,” said JPMorgan Chase Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon in a statement. “Giving more people a second chance allows businesses to step-up and do their part to reduce recidivism, hire talented workers, and strengthen the economy.”The financial services company's decision to ban the box is part of a broader initiative to advocate for reforms to make it easier for those with criminal backgrounds to be part of the workforce. In an act of mob justice, a man was beaten to death after he tried to steal a car with three children inside, Philadelphia police say.The man, 54, drove off with the car while the children's mother and father were in a store Thursday night, police said. The parents chased down the vehicle by foot and pulled the carjacker out when he got stalled in traffic.The thief assaulted the father and fled, but a large crowd stopped the suspect and beat him, police said.The suspect was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital.Police are investigating and had not made any arrests Friday afternoon.A spokeswoman for the district attorney's office said prosecutors are waiting for police to complete their investigation before commenting. 747

In states where it is legal, dispensaries are the go-to location for marijuana products. But now, more customers are using a marijuana home delivery service. Marijuana delivery is a growing business in California, with a company called Eaze dominating the marketplace. Its web page connects customers to dispensaries. Customers can choose from a variety of products, including flower, vape pens, body creams and more. Then, it gets delivered straight to the customer’s door. "A lot of times it gets there faster than a pizza," says Sheena Shiravis, Eaze’s director of consumer communications. Eaze's website looks like a typical online store. "You add things to your cart just like you would on Amazon,” Shiravi explains. “Anything like that. You check out, and then you get an ETA with when your driver is going to arrive." Eaze's software uses an algorithm to help dispensaries and drivers anticipate what customers will buy throughout a day. The product and drivers are tracked by GPS for security and safety. "There's little things like alerts that the driver has been sitting still or idle for 15 minutes, the dispatcher can instruct the retailer and will get an alert so they can call the driver,” Shiravi says. Delivery drivers must have clean driving records. They also have a host of safety procedures to follow. "The cars are not branded. The drivers don't wear cannabis clothing,” says Elissa Hambrecht, CEO of Fume, a dispensary. “There's nothing that says Eaze.com on it. It's literally a soccer mom car." There is some controversy in California and other states that are considering marijuana delivery. Some worry this will make increase crime. "We've seen shootings; we've seen homicides,” says Sgt. Scott Pendleton with the Colorado Police Department in Aurora. “A great deal of violent crime that surrounds marijuana." Sgt. Pendleton, who is a narcotics officer, worries about customers and drivers being sitting ducks for robbers. States that have a marijuana home delivery service include California, New York, Florida, Maine and Oregon. Other states are considering allowing the service, including Colorado and Washington. "You don't know what's going to take place, where there is going to be a rip off that's set up,” Sg. Pendleton says. It's hard to measure whether marijuana delivery has impacted crime where delivery is legal. However, Shiravi believes it’s helped cut down on black market sales. You could end up with a little surprise from the critters in your yard.The squirrels around Holly and Chris Persic's home seem to be stocking up for the winter by taking walnuts from their yard in Pittsburgh and shoving them under the hood of their car.Holly was driving her car Monday when she thought it smelled like it was burning and was making a strange sound. When she popped the hood, she found more than 200 walnuts and lots of grass."They were everywhere, under the battery, near the radiator fan," Chris said. "The walnuts on the engine block were black and smelt like they were definitely roasting."Holly had her car inspected last month but hadn't looked under the hood since then, her husband Chris told CNN on Tuesday. KENSINGTON, N.H. – A father in New Hampshire killed a coyote with his bare hands after it attacked his young child on a trail Monday, according to the Kensington Police Department. Before that attack, police say they received a report of the coyote attacking a vehicle on Drinkwater Road in Hampton Falls at about 8:40 a.m. Shortly after, police say a 62-year-old woman on Hemlock Road reported that she and her dogs were attacked by a coyote.“The coyote was on her three-season porch and her two dogs had opened the sliding door and were attacked by the coyote,” wrote the department. “The two dogs retreated back into the house and the coyote attempted to get into the house. While the homeowner was fighting to keep the coyote out of the house, she was bitten.”The homeowner was treated at an area hospital and received the first series of rabies shots. She will return later in the week for a second set of shots. Her dogs were also treated. Then at about 11 a.m., police say that same coyote attacked a family walking on a trail in Exeter.
