A law class at Georgia State University will focus on the life and career of "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kandi Burruss this upcoming semester.In a press release, the university said the singer, songwriter, actress, and entrepreneur will be the subject of Professor Mo Ivory's course of Entertainment, Sports, and Media Law Initiative, which prepares students for Georgia’s growing entertainment industry.“I chose Kandi because she has an amazing career, which spans every aspect of the entertainment industry from music, television, and live performance to licensing, apparel, and more,” Ivory said in the news release. “I wanted to study a woman this time around, and having worked with Kandi in the past, I knew she was the perfect choice. She handles her business and it shows with her success, but all the while she’s completely approachable and willing to share her lessons learned. I couldn’t be happier for my students to learn the law through Kandi’s career.”The course, which began in 2018, focused on the life of rapper and actor Ludacris last year.“I am honored to be part of this year’s curriculum at Georgia State University College of Law,” Burruss said in the release. “Attorneys are among the most important members of your team. A historically active Atlantic Hurricane season is nearing a close, but there appears to be at least one more threat looming in the Caribbean Sea.Hurricane Zeta is currently churning just south of the Yucatan Peninsula with maximum sustained winds of 80 mph — and is currently projected to make landfall on the Louisiana coast later this week.The National Hurricane Center issued a hurricane watch for portions of the Louisiana and Mississippi coasts on Monday. The hurricane watch runs from Morgan City, Louisiana to the Alabama/Mississippi border. The hurricane gained hurricane status Monday afternoon after Hurricane Hunters flew through the storm. In addition to gustier winds, the Hurricane Hunters found Zeta's pressure has dropped. According to the National Hurricane Center's latest update, Zeta is projected to make landfall on the eastern part of the Louisiana coastline on Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning. At that point, officials believe the system will be "at or near hurricane strength."Zeta is the 28th named storm of 2020 — the second-most all-time in a single year. And no region has been targeted more by tropical storms this year than the Louisiana coast.The Louisiana coastline has already been targeted by four major storms this year — Cristobal, Laura, Marco and Delta. The strongest of those storms, Laura, reached category 4 status and caused extensive damage to the Lake Charles area, contributing to 17 deaths in the U.S.According to one NOAA researcher, the Louisiana coast has spent more than three whole weeks in NHC forecast cones this year, by far the most of any region. 1624

A Japanese pilot found to be more than nine times over the legal alcohol limit before a scheduled flight from London Heathrow in October has been sentenced to 10 months in prison, police said Thursday.Katsutoshi Jitsukawa, 42, an employee of flag carrier Japan Airlines, was scheduled to fly from Heathrow to Tokyo on October 28 at 6:50 p.m. local time, but failed a breath test shortly before takeoff.The test showed Jitsukawa had 189 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in his body. The legal limit for pilots is 20 mg, while drivers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are allowed as much as 80 mg.Alarm was raised after a driver of a crew bus smelled alcohol and called the police, who conducted the test, according to Japanese broadcaster NHK.Jitsukawa said he had drunk two bottles of wine and a pitcher of beer the night before the flight, NHK reported.He was remanded in custody and later pleaded guilty to the charge of performing an aviation function when his ability was impaired through alcohol. Jitsukawa had been scheduled to fly a 244-seater Boeing 777 aircraft.Reacting to the sentencing, Inspector of Aviation Policing Iain Goble, condemned the "serious" offense that could have had "catastrophic" consequences."This conviction reflects he displayed not only total disregard for the safety of all the passengers and staff on his flight, but also the wider public," Goble said.Following Jitsukawa's arrest, Japan Airlines apologized for the incident and said "safety remains our utmost priority," adding it will "implement immediate actions to prevent any future occurrence." 1610

A British woman was saved by the Croatian Coast Guard after spending what she said was close to 10 hours treading water overnight in the Adriatic Sea after falling off a cruise ship.Kay Longstaff spoke to Croatian news outlet HRT shortly after arriving back on land."I fell off the back of the Norwegian Star," said the woman, who lives in Spain, according to her Twitter account. "I was in the water for 10 hours, so these wonderful guys rescued me. I'm very lucky to be alive."Longstaff, 46, was then led by medical personnel to an ambulance. 552

A Florida mother says her daughter was denied lunch on the first day of school because she didn't have money to pay a 15 cent debt.Kimberly Aiken told WKMG-TV in Orlando that her daughter, a sophomore at University High School in Orange City, Florida, was told that she owed 15 cents when she went through the lunch line on the first day of school this week. When she told the cashier that she didn't have any money on her, the cashier allegedly threw the food away.Aiken's daughter did not eat anything for the rest of the school day.According to CBS News, Aiken signed her daughter up for a free and reduced-cost lunch program at University High School.
