Three motorcyclists stopped traffic at a busy Mesa, Arizona intersection Sunday afternoon to help a woman cross the street.The three riders; Eduardo Plascenia, Patrick Patterson, and Damon Pruit, were passing through 8th Avenue and Alama School Road around 1 p.m when one of the riders noticed and signaled to the others that a woman was stuck and stranded in the middle of the crosswalk. "No one seemed to care," explained Eduardo Plascencia. "No one slowed down and no one offered assistance." Video captured from Patterson's helmet shows Patterson and Plascenia turn around and head back to the intersection where Pruit had already stopped.The riders used their bikes to stop traffic and assure that the woman would be able to cross safely.The video shows the woman give a friendly wave to the riders who drive off after the woman is safely across. "She thanked us adamantly. Thousands of elevator permits in San Diego County are out of date, according to the Department of Industrial Relations. In San Diego and Imperial Counties, a DIR spokesperson said there are 12,541 elevator permits issued. Of those, 6,932 are expired. DIR spokesperson Frank Polizzi said there is no penalty for expired permits, “but a unit should not be running if it has been tagged out of service for a maintenance/safety reason.”Team 10 visited several elevators in downtown San Diego and found there was no permit displayed in the elevator at all—including an elevator at Horton Plaza and one operated by the City of San Diego. Polizzi said there are other reasons a displayed permit could be expired, besides the elevator being out of compliance. TIJUANA, Mexico (KGTV) - Hundreds of kids are waiting at shelters in Mexico, unable to get their asylum application processed, according to lawyers.They came with the migrant caravan in November. "Really quite brave of them to go through all of that," Lawyer Kara Lynum said. Lynum traveled to Tijuana with fellow lawyers from around the country in December.While in the shelter during their five day stay, she says they saw huge gaps in resources for the kids, prompting them to create a GoFundMe page."So the money is going directly to Al Otro Lado, so they're going to use it to fund those needs, they're going to hire a teacher. They're going to hire a trauma counselor for the kids, enhance security in the shelter and then hopefully hire a lawyer too," Lynum said one of the biggest issues is getting kids' applications processed."There's that list for asylum seekers, and the kids can't get on that list," saying change needs to happen, "for the children, in particular, they should be able to walk up to the Port of Entry and start the process of asylum."The roadblock, the law states anyone under 18 must have a guardian, to ensure the child is acting under their own free will."To know the background of this minor, I mean there's arguments that some of these kids are being trafficked. We don't know exactly where are there parents?"
