NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) — A police pursuit ended in a violent crash Wednesday, after a suspect hit two cars and injured a woman.National City Police said a car was stolen in Chula Vista overnight after the owner left it running. That car was found hours later by a National City school resource officer who detected it nearby on his lowjack system.The resource officer reported the stolen vehicle to police, leading to a brief pursuit with the suspect.The suspect made a sharp turn at Highland Ave. and 6th St., crashing into one car and sending that car into a second vehicle.A woman in the first vehicle that was hit was injured. She was taken to Sharp Chula Vista with unknown injuries.The crash ended right in front of a sign spinner working at the corner."All of a sudden I see they're chasing the car down this corner. He came this way, impacted that truck over there," the witness told 10News. "I was in shock the whole time. My jaw was dropped. I was scared, like, 'oh man I could've died."Police said the suspect was apprehended at the scene. Police added they found possible narcotics in the vehicle and believe the suspect may have threw something out of the vehicle during the chase. 1208

Nearly 1.5 million Ford Focus vehicles in North America are being recalled because of a fuel system problem.The engines can stall without warning, the recall says. Cars included in the recall are 2012 to 2018 model years with 2-liter four-cylinder engines.The recall states a canister purge valve can malfunction. Mondelez International, the parent company of Nabisco, has redesigned its packaging of "Barnum's Animals" crackers after being pressured by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.The group called for the redesign by Mondelez because it protests the use of animals in circuses, and the animal crackers boxes showed animals in cages, the Associated Press reports.The crackers were once named for the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey circus, but it folded for good after 146 years. (AP) — A Southern California school district will pay million to the parents of a 13-year-old boy who drowned in a high school pool.A lawsuit settlement between the family of Alex Pierce and the Murrieta Valley Unified High School District was announced Tuesday.Alex was at a 2016 pool party at Vista Murrieta High School when he got into trouble and was underwater for several minutes.Classmates pulled him out but the student lifeguards didn't perform CPR. The comatose teen was removed from life support a month later.The lawsuit said the school district lacked proper safety policies.The district didn't acknowledge any wrongdoing but agreed to change its safety plan and train all faculty in CPR.
