AGOURA, California — The movie set ranch featured in the HBO television series “Westworld” and almost 500 other productions was destroyed in the Woolsey Fire, Santa Monica Mountains park rangers tweeted Friday.The piece of Hollywood history, known as “Western Town” at Paramount Ranch, was located in Agoura. With its rolling hills and canyons, it was used to create an Old West look for film and television shoots.Paramount Studios bought the 2,700 acre ranch in the golden era of Hollywood. According to the National Park Service, the permanent Western Town was built in the 1950s and posed as Tombstone, Arizona, and Dodge City, Kansas.In addition to “Westworld”, the set also served as the home of “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” and episodes of Gunsmoke. After being sworn into office Wednesday, Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona talked with Scripps' National Political Editor, Joe St. George, in Washington. Kelly was elected in November but sworn in early because he is technically filling the seat of the late Senator John McCain. Kelly ran on changing Washington. "You think you can change this place?" St. George asked Kelly. "It can be changed. Often change takes time, but change can be a good thing for our country," Kelly said. Regarding COVID-19, Kelly said he spoke with Senator Joe Manchin, D-WV, regarding a bipartisan proposal to provide more economic relief to Americans. "I am going to look at the details," Kelly said, not commenting yet on whether he supports it. Kelly will be up for reelection in 2022. "Would you like to be here a lot longer than that?" St. George asked. "Well I just got started," Kelly said. "Will you run again though?" St. George asked. "The important thing is we address the important issues Arizonans are facing," Kelly said. ALPINE (CNS) - A motorcyclist was killed Friday afternoon in a collision with a truck on a rural East County road.The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on Japatul Valley Road, near Bell Bluff Truck Trail in the Alpine area, according to the California Highway Patrol.The motorcyclist died at the scene of the accident, which left the two-lane roadway blocked into the early evening, the CHP reported.The victim's name was not immediately available. 459
