The Seattle Police Department said that one person was killed and seven others were injured in a shooting Wednesday night in downtown Seattle. The incident took place in a busy section of Seattle, as multiple shopping venues are within a block of where there shooting was reported. Seattle Police originally said that a total of six people were shot, but local hospitals reported to police that two additional people arrived at the hospital on their own. Police said that a 50-year-old woman was in critical condition and a 9-year-old was in "satisfactory" condition. A 32-year-old man also remains hospitalized in "satisfactory" condition.Four other men were hospitalized but were treated and released by Wednesday morning. The Seattle mayor has banned the police use of tear gas as protests continue in the city and nationally over the killing of George Floyd. Mayor Jenny Durkan said in a news conference Friday afternoon that the ban would continue for 30 days. The move came hours after three civilian police watchdog groups urged city leaders to do so.
