CARLSBAD, Calif. —  Two bodies were found with gunshot wounds in front of a Carlsbad home Tuesday night, just east of Batiquitos Lagoon. The Carlsbad Police were alerted to the situation when they got a 911 call from a man saying he was going to commit suicide in the 2500 block of Navarra Drive, according to police. When they arrived at the home they found a 71-year-old man and 79-year-old woman both with visible gunshot wounds. A handgun was recovered at the scene.Both the man and woman are residents of Carlsbad. Their names are being withheld until family has been notified the by medical examiner.Carlsbad police tell 10News that the preliminary investigation indicates that the pair were married and each suffering from a different medical condition.There are no outstanding suspects and police are investigating the deaths as a possible murder-suicide situation.   943

And if you’re in the market for a new two-wheeler, it may be months before you can wrap your fingers around some handlebars.Bicycles seem to be everywhere, unless you’re trying to buy one.At Edgebrook Cycle & Sport in Chicago, bikes have become a hot commodity during the pandemic.“It has been off the charts. It's unprecedented,” said owner Jim Kirsten.So much so that there’s a critical shortage, not just in the Windy City, but everywhere.“We have about 10% of our usual inventory and our service work which you see kind of surrounding me here is about 300% where it normally is,” said Kirsten.In fact, bike racks at retail giants like Walmart, Target and Dick’s Sport Goods are almost completely bare.Online vendors like Torrance, California-based Sixthreezero say demand for their bikes has jumped 800%. They’ve had to triple their staff to handle the increased interest.April sales for traditional bikes, indoor bikes, and other accessories grew by 75% compared to the same time last year and reached billion for the first time in a single month.Industry experts say commuters abandoning public transportation, gym closures and the search for socially distanced recreation created a perfect storm.Today’s bike boom, they say, is one not seen since the oil crisis of the early 1970s.“Mid to low price bicycles are just wiped out across the country,” said Jay Townley, a consultant with Human Powered Solutions. Townley spent much of his 60-year career at Schwinn and as president of Giant Bicycle Company.“Along with new bike sales, bicycle repair has skyrocketed. Mick Calarco, Project Manager with the City of Carlsad calls the park a "manifestation of Carrillo's childhood dreams." Million- dollar homes now surround the park, but it was once a sprawling and working ranch with livestock and wild animals. Peacocks still roam the property, original descendants of the birds Carrillo bought for the ranch."You can truly lose yourself out here," said Calarco. The old adobe buildings have been beautifully restored to their original splendor. Carrillo bought the property in 1937. His famous friends, including Clark Gable would often visit the ranch. In every building you can see Carrillo's vision for preserving early ranch architecture. Adobe was a central theme in Leo's remembrance of of his childhood ranches. After Carrillo's daughter, Tony, left the estate, the buildings began to fall apart. The City of Carlsbad acquired the remaining 10.5-acre ranch in 1977. (KGTV) - A former DACA recipient was arrested Monday on his second attempt to re-enter the U.S. from Mexico.El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents received information from Remote Video Surveillance Systems operators that a man had crossed the border fence approximately 3 miles east of Calexico.RVSS monitors showed the man running away from agents as they tried to arrest him, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said.After a brief chase, agents caught 23-year-old Mexican citizen Juan Manual Montes-Bojorquez.CBP said Montes had previously been deported in February.“Our agents witnessed and arrested Mr. Bojorquez making an illegal entry into the United States for the second time this year,” said Assistant Chief Patrol Agent David S. Kim. “Border Patrol Agents will always stop, detain, and arrest anyone making an illegal entry into the country irrespective of their immigration or citizenship status.” Montes was booked into the Imperial County Jail on pending charges of re-entry after removal.  1047
