SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego family of a Los Angeles firefighter who may have been kidnapped in Rosarito, Mexico, is speaking out.It’s been more than two weeks since 20-year veteran LA City firefighter Frank Aguilar was last seen after heading to his second home in Baja, California.“We’re hopeful. We haven't lost hope,” his local cousin Nancy told ABC10 News. She’s only providing a first name, due to safety concerns. “Nobody seems to know anything and it's very frustrating for the family to not know anything."On Wednesday, LA Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that his office learned from Mexican authorities that the 48-year-old firefighter may have been violently kidnapped from his Baja condo. “We will work tirelessly to make sure that Frank is returned safely,” he said in a news conference."[The mayor] did mention that he is going to provide all resources from Los Angeles to help get my dad back,” said daughter Amaris Aguilar.“I had just spoken to my dad the morning that we discovered he was missing. When he left for Rosarito, he was describing how safe or how good he felt in that community. He wanted to retire there,” added daughter Bella Aguilar.The daughters say that his condo was in a guard-gated community.His family has told reporters that his phone is off and they've heard that his condo may have been ransacked, his vehicles are missing and Ring video shows a troubling scene.“We're going to get you back. I love you so, so much,” added Amaris.Late Thursday, the San Diego FBI spokesperson sent ABC10 News the following statement:"The FBI is in contact with its Legal Attache located at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City regarding the Los Angeles fireman reported missing. The FBI routinely offers assistance to our Mexican counterparts who have jurisdiction over this situation as it occurred in Mexico. The FBI is providing assistance and resources as requested by our Mexican law enforcement partners. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - This election fired up voters and one Serra Mesa couple was driven by duty to vote for the first time.Anthony Joiner and Justine Gibson are engaged, and invested in this election."We recently became home owners and in the next few years we'll be parents hopefully so we feel like the future is in our hands and we want to be part of the decisions that are happening," Joiner said, with Gibson adding, "wanted to make it count."FIND YOUR POLLING PLACEJoiner said it felt great to cast his ballot for the first time, "I feel accomplished."Joiner and Gibson filled their ballots out in person. "We wanted the full experience," they said laughing."This year more than ever we felt the importance of voting and having our voices heard, this was primarily driven by the current political environment! I feel like the presidential race without a doubt is important, however equally as important are the local races/props that will have a direct impact on our quality of life," Gibson said.They didn't make their decisions in isolation, "we filled out our ballots together [at home]," Joiner said. "We’re pretty much on the same page on all things political and whatnot so it was a little bit easier," Gibson chimed in."We didn’t want our votes to cancel one another out so if we disagreed on something we would talk about it a little bit and see why," Joiner said laughing.Joiner said he hopes the tension fades after the election, "and I really want everyone to just get along really."Both hope for a positive outcome, "no matter what way it goes people just accept it," Joiner said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The owners of a Webster-area restaurant that has been broken into in recent days decided to set up their own overnight sting operation, and their plan led to two arrests.At around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, the owners of Trevi Ristorante on 4703 Federal Blvd., put together their own stakeout and waited for anyone who would try to break into the business.The restaurant had been burglarized three times in the past week, including one incident in which a safe was taken. Jonathan Romero, the owners’s son, told ABC 10News, “We’re tired of it.”While the owner remained on the roof, his son waited across the street and a family friend watched from behind the eatery.After several hours, they noticed an SUV park in an alley behind the restaurant and two men get out of the vehicle.As the family observed the two people go through gates to the restaurant’s back doors, the owner’s son called 911.San Diego police officers arrived at the scene and took one of the would-be burglars into custody.However, the other man climbed up the side of the building and ran across the roof. After jumping from the roof down to the front parking lot, the man ran away as officers pursued him.The man was able to cross Federal Boulevard, but officers deployed a stun gun and subdued him.The stunned man was treated at the scene for his injuries and is expected to be OK. 1373

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego County Fair is a place of sights and sounds, which could deter some families with adults and children with autism, PTSD, and other sensory-sensitive conditions to pass on the yearly festival.To help provide those families with the same fun at the fair, organizers will offer sensory stations and free sensory toolkits, containing noise-canceling headphones, fidgets, weighted lap pads, and other tools.Fair organizers teamed with KultureCity, which has implemented sensory-inclusion programs at public venues around the country, including for the NFL and NBA. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Though there are still votes to be counted, data from the San Diego County Registrar of Voters is showing how residents voted on some of the most widely publicized races this midterm election.While the Registrar's data reports 100 percent of precincts, there are about 490,000 outstanding ballots waiting to be processed — so these numbers are not the county's official results.They do, however, show how San Diegans compare in statewide races.STATEThe race for governor was fairly close according to the data, with Democrat Gavin Newsom leading 53.87 percent to Republican John Cox's 46.13 percent.Cox conceded to Newsom late Tuesday after statewide numbers showed Newsom take the lead, winning 59 percent to 41 percent.RELATED: Nathan Fletcher, Jim Desmond win San Diego County Board of Supervisors seatsIn the race for U.S. Senator, San Diegans voted for Democrat Dianne Feinstein 53.6 percent to fellow Democrat Kevin De Leon's 46.4 percent. In California, Feinstein took about 56 percent of the vote.California's Attorney General race was squarely in the hands of Democrat Xavier Becerra in San Diego County, who gained 55.16 percent of the vote.LOCALAt a local level, the close races continued, with Democrat Mike Levin taking former Rep. Darrell Issa's 49th District seat with 56.86 percent of the vote.The race for the 50th District remained close as well, with Republican incumbent Duncan Hunter holding on over challenger Ammar Campa-Najjar with 53.94 percent of the vote in San Diego.PROPOSITIONSProposition 6, known as the gas tax repeal, took favor in San Diego County with 52.64 percent of the vote. Though statewide the prop failed, only gaining a 45 percent approval vote.The Daylight Saving Time measure, Proposition 7, also had fans in San Diego County with 68.55 percent approval.
