SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 41-year-old man was jailed Thursday morning on suspicion of seriously injuring his roommate during a fight at a College Area home, police said.It happened shortly before 10:15 p.m. Wednesday at a home on College Avenue near Pontiac Street, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.The 41-year-old man and his 42-year-old male roommate got into an argument for unknown reasons and the argument turned violent, Buttle said.During the fight, the younger roommate punched the 42-year-old man several times in the head, the officer said.Officers responded to the home and took the 41-year-old man, whose name was not immediately available, into custody without incident, Buttle said.The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not believed to be life-threatening, he said. 829

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A head-on collision Friday in Poway injured three people, one of them seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital.The collision occurred about 2 p.m. in the 15800 block of Poway Road, according to Sgt. (KGTV) -- Governor Gavin Newsom's new proposal would make California the first state to establish its own generic drug label in hopes of lowering the cost of medications, CalMatters reports. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- A spokesperson for the County of San Diego said over two days, they have received approximately 580 complaints of businesses and entities not following the proper restrictions under the purple tier.The county has already sent out dozens of cease and desists orders since Monday. That includes at least two churches, Foothills Christian Church and Awaken Church, but the warnings are not stopping some churches from shutting down indoor operations.Since the pandemic began, Awaken Church has received two cease and desist letters. Once in July for its Balboa Campus, and the latest on Monday for the Carlsbad location, but it appears the church has no intentions of shutting down indoor services.A statement posted on the church’s website said in part, “In keeping our First Amendment right, we will continue to minister to those who are the most affected by all the COVID-19 lockdowns. Specifically tending to those who are struggling with depression, anxiety, hopelessness, suicidal thoughts, and addiction.”Bishop Arthur Hodges is a Senior Pastor at South Bay Pentecostal Church. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 47-year-old man accused of intentionally driving a pickup truck off Sunset Cliffs and into the ocean with his twin toddler daughters inside pleaded not guilty today to attempted murder, kidnapping and other charges.Robert Brians, who is also charged in the 13-count criminal complaint with child abuse, making criminal threats, child abduction and burglary, is being held without bail and is due back in court July 22 for a readiness conference.He allegedly drove into the water on the morning of June 13 with his 2- year-old daughters inside the truck. The girls were hospitalized in stable condition, according to a GoFundMe page created to raise money for their medical bills.About 4:30 a.m. that day, the toddlers' mother called 911 to report that Brians had taken their children without permission and allegedly contacted her via ``numerous calls and texts ... clearly stating she may not see (them) again,'' according to the GoFundMe.com page.He allegedly threatened to drive the vehicle off the Coronado Bay Bridge, but was later spotted by officers on Hill Street near Cornish Drive and sped off, careening over the side of a cliff and landing upside down in the water, according to police.Moments later, a canine officer also responding to the emergency, 22- year SDPD veteran Jonathan Wiese, arrived in the area. Reaching the scene of the crash and seeing Brians' pickup upside down in the water, Wiese grabbed a long leash he uses for his service dog, wrapped it around his chest, gave the other end to fellow officers and rappelled down the precipice.Wiese then swam out to the foundering truck and rescued the children and Brians.
