A hospice patient in Kentucky arrived at his son's season opener football game in style. His hospice nurse arranged for a plane to fly them to Belfry High School after realizing it would have been too dangerous in his condition to drive.For Scott Sullivan, being able to watch his son, Cade, play one more time under the Friday night lights was a once in a lifetime opportunity."I got out of a couple of hospitals and realized I had a really rapid form of cancer that left me really not many places to turn," Scott said.Since he got home, Jerree Humphrey, a nurse at Hospice of Lake Cumberland, has been taking care of Scott. Over the past few weeks, the pair have bonded over their kids. "He was asking me if I felt like he could go to Belfry. I was like, 'I don't know,' I mean seven or eight hours in the car, between here and there, and then back," Humphrey said.Driving being out of the question, Humphrey knew she had to do something. "One of our hospice mottos is you might not be able to change the outcome, but you can affect the journey," Humphrey said.So, Humphrey found someone to fly them down to Belfry High School to watch Cade play in Pulaski County High School's season opener."Him being there, it might be the last game he will ever watch me play in, and it meant a lot to me. I played my heart out; I played as hard as I possibly could," Cade said.The whole game, Scott was in the stands cheering on his son. Cade ran over and hugged him."My son and I, we made an agreement. If it's going to happen, we are going to make it. A Georgetown football player has reportedly been arrested in Georgia regarding a murder that occurred in Washington, D.C.According to WTTG, Dijon Williams was wanted by the Metropolitan Police Department for his role in the alleged murder of Nurudeen Thomas.Williams was arrested in Georgia on Monday by United States Marshals, NBC Sports reported.Thomas was shot on July 21 and later died at the hospital, WTTG reported.According to USA Today, the university has suspended Williams from all team activities per its policy.The senior appeared in five games last season for the Hoyas. 591

A Kentucky infectious disease expert who advocated for social distancing and the use of masks in her state has died after a monthslong battle with COVID-19.According to WBKO-TV in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Dr. Rebecca Shadowen — an infectious disease specialist at The Medical Center in Bowling Green and a community leader amid the pandemic — died on Sept. 11 following a four-month fight with the virus.According to a statement from The Medical Center, Shawoden had worked at the center since 1989 and had been a "physician leader" across Kentucky for more than 30 years.In the early days of the pandemic, Shadowen pushed tirelessly for those in her community to isolate and adopt common-sense social distancing measures."(I)f you could save the life of another person without harming your own, would you?" Showden posted on Facebook on March 13. "Although we are (fiercely) individuals, we still live as community. Please take the Coronavirus (COVID-19) seriously. YOU may be healthy or may not feel this is threatening to you."Shadowen later served on Bowling Green-Warren County Coronavirus Working Group — an inter-agency organization that helped set policy and informed Kentuckians about the risks posed by COVID-19.According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, Shadowen contracted COVID-19 on May 13. David Shawoden, Rebecca's wife, said that both she and their daughter tested positive for the virus, while her son did not. Shadowen's daughter reportedly only suffered mild symptoms.However, Rebecca Shadowen faced a steep road to recovery. NBC News reports she was on and off a ventilator and spent months in the hospital. In a July Facebook post, Shawoden thanked her friends for continued prayers and kind words and asked others to wear a mask or face covering while in public."Although I am not home yet, I am in a very long recovery period and making slow progress here in Bowling Green," she wrote. A global research team of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, using spectroscopes, have found hydrogen sulfide in the clouds or Uranus, NASA said on Tuesday. What is special about hydrogen sulfide is it is a common chemical on Earth humans like to avoid. Hydrogen sulfide is the same gas that rotten eggs emit. Yes, Uranus smells like rotten eggs. The presence of hydrogen sulfide has long been suspected on Uranus. NASA’s Voyager 2, which passed by the planet decades ago, detected the gas. But using Earth-based satellites, NASA has been able to confirm the presence of the gas. NASA said that finding hydrogen sulfide on Uranus is a striking difference compared to the other gas planets. Jupiter and Saturn have had ammonia detected in the clouds, but not hydrogen sulfide. “We’ve strongly suspected that hydrogen sulfide gas was influencing the millimeter and radio spectrum of Uranus for some time, but we were unable to attribute the absorption needed to identify it positively. Now, that part of the puzzle is falling into place as well,” Glenn Orton of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory said. If there is one bit of good news, scientists said: It would be impossible for the hydrogen sulfide to overtake humans. "Suffocation and exposure in the negative 200 degrees Celsius [392 degrees Fahrenheit] atmosphere made of mostly hydrogen, helium and methane would take its toll long before the smell," said lead author Patrick Irwin of the University of Oxford, U.K.    1582

A man is hospitalized, but expected to survive, after his girlfriend struck him with her car following a domestic argument, according to police in Port St. Lucie, Florida.The incident happened in the 1900 block of W. Dunbrooke Circle.Police said the man got out of the car and began walking down the street and the woman then dropped off her baby at their house, drove back to where the man was walking and hit him.Video posted by police shows crime scene tape around a car which appears to have a big dent in the hood and a shattered windshield.The man, described as the woman's 24-year-old live-in boyfriend, was airlifted to a hospital with head trauma.  He was undergoing surgery late Wednesday afternoon.Police did not identify either person but said the investigation continues. “It sounded like a car hitting a shopping cart," said Lance Chmura who lives just across the street from the crash scene. He was making breakfast around 9 a.m. when he heard the impact and ran out to help.“I went down, grabbed his hand and stabilized him because he was starting to thrash around a bit," said Chmura.The impact of the crash was so intense it sent the man flying 35 yards down the street.“She (the girlfriend) then left the scene, drove back home.  Her relative got in car and came back to the scene," said Master Sgt. Frank Sabol with Port St. Lucie Police.The victim’s grandmother would not reveal what the girlfriend said to her immediately after the crash, but said the couple had a good relationship and had just moved down here last month. She said she thinks this was an accident.“I think they were just playing around and didn’t realize the severity of it," said the grandmother.“The initial investigation determines she was on the wrong side of the road when he was struck," added Sgt. Sabol.Right now, it’s being investigated as a case of domestic violence. No arrests have been made.  1948
