(KGTV) — A magnitude 6.6 earthquake shook parts of the Southern Philippines Tuesday morning local time, weeks after another deadly quake struck the region.Tuesday's quake hit just after 9 a.m. on the island of Mindanao near the town of Tulunan in North Cotabato, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.Damages and aftershocks were expected, CNN reported, and several evacuations were reported.The earthquake comes about two weeks after a 6.3-magnitude quake killed seven people and injured dozens in the same town in North Cotabato, CNN reported. 583

(KGTV) - A bill that would create the option for a third gender marker on California driver's licenses and birth certificates is heading to the state Senate.SB 179, also known as the Gender Recognition Act and introduced by Senator Toni Atkins, passed through the State Assembly 50-13 and will now return to the Senate for approval of amendments made in the assembly.If approved in the Senate, it will head to Governor Jerry Brown's desk for signing.RELATED: San Diegan third in nation to change gender to 'nonbinary'California Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego), a co-author of the bill, said the legislation aims to end the stigma and hardships Californians face when it comes to government documentation.“All too often, members of our transgender, intersex, and nonbinary community experience hardships and even stigma when their government documents don’t match their gender presentation," Gloria said in a release. "Despite the divisive rhetoric at the federal level, SB 179 demonstrates the inclusiveness of California and represents recognition from government that people can exist as more than just male or female."In addition to a third gender marker on state-issued identification documents, the bill is also designed to "streamline" the process for transgender, intersex, and nonbinary Californians to get those certificates.RELATED: Oregon becomes first state to allow gender-neutral licensesCurrently, changes to gender in California require proof of "clinically appropriate treatment." Atkins' bill does away with this requirement.Under the bill, anyone who chooses to change their gender would be allowed to "to attest, under penalty of perjury, that the request is to conform the person’s legal gender to the person’s gender identity and not for any fraudulent purpose."If approved, this portion of the bill would go into effect September 2018.In the case of driver's licenses, the bill would require an applicant to have the choices of male, female, or nonbinary, as specified, available. (KGTV) — As Disney World prepares to welcome visitors to a galaxy far, far away, TSA officials are warning travelers to leave the thermal detonator sodas at the park.One of the most popular "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" products are Coca-Cola bottles, fashioned after the films' thermal detonators to look like a galactic grenade with alien writing on the front. (KGTV) — California officials announced Thursday the state's REAL ID identification is now in line with federal requirements.Last December, the Department of Homeland Security notified state officials that requirements for the new identification and drivers license needed to be stricter.Now, those applying for the card will need to show one proof of identity, original or certified; one proof of Social Security Number; and two proofs of California residency. A complete list of acceptable documents is available online here.Those who have already received a REAL ID license or card will receive a letter in the mail asking them to confirm their address and must mail the form back to the DMV. This will count for their second form of identification.RELATED: San Diego DMV customer has warning about websitePreviously, the state only required one proof of residency and counted the post office's delivery of the ID as the second form, placing it at odds with federal requirements.Beginning on Oct. 1, 2020, the REAL ID drivers license or ID will be needed for airline passengers traveling domestically or accessing federal facilities or military bases. However, airline passengers will still be able to show a passport to travel within the U.S. as well.Residents are encouraged to schedule appointments to apply for a REAL ID and fill out the necessary paperwork (available online) before visiting DMV offices.So far, the state estimates about 4.1 million REAL ID drivers licenses and cards have been issued. 1518
