Universal spokesman Tom Schroder said in an email Monday that the Florida theme park resort was reducing its workforce "to reflect current priorities and needs." Universal has put the construction of a new theme park, Epic Universe, on pause because of the pandemic. Universal Orlando closed its doors in March as the novel coronavirus started spreading in the U.S. It was the first of Orlando's major theme park operators to reopen when it welcomed back visitors in early June. OPA-LOCKA, Fla. (AP) — After 13 years, a South Florida city has overturned a ban on "saggy pants" — bottoms that reveal the wearer's underwear. The Opa-Locka City Commission voted Wednesday on a 4-1 vote to repeal both the original 2007 legislation and a 2013 ordinance that said women, not just men, could receive civil citations for wearing pants that exposed their undergarments. Some commissioners said they felt the ordinance disproportionately affected young, African-American men. Around the city, which is northeast of Miami, signs still warn folks of the ordinance. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Police have identified the man accused of firing a gun at an Oklahoma City restaurant on Thursday evenign. Police say Alexander Tilghman, 28-years-old of Oklahoma City, opened fire Thursday at 6:30 p.m. local time at Louie's restaurant on Lake Hefner. In an update sent around 9:30 a.m. police say officers found Tilghman dead outside the restaurant. Police say he was shot by two citizens.Witnesses say the men were yelling at the suspect to put his gun down, but he had large headphones on and was pacing near the restaurant. Witnesses say the suspect raised his gun at the men, and that's when the armed citizen shot Tilghman.Police say three people were shot: A 39-year-old woman and two female juveniles. All three are reportedly in good condition.A fourth person was injured, according to police, after falling and breaking his arm after the shooter started firing his gun.Oklahoma City police are holding a press conference at 11:30 a.m. local time.  1024

Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon has pulled out of a job as a correspondent for NBC at the Winter Games in South Korea.News broke earlier Sunday that Rippon, one of the first openly gay U.S. athletes to compete at the Olympics, was being hired to work on TV, digital and social media for NBC for the remainder of the Games in Pyeongchang.NBC tweeted out the news Sunday morning, welcoming the 28-year-old bronze medalist to its team.But Rippon said hours later that although he was "so flattered" by NBC's offer, he decided against the move because it would mean leaving his U.S. teammates and the Olympic Village."It's so important to me, you know, I worked so hard to be on this Olympic team, and my teammates and my friends were there for me during my events, and that meant so much to me, that I really feel like I need to be there for them during their events," he said on NBCSN.NBC's article online about Rippon becoming one of its correspondents now redirects readers to his Olympic profile page.Rippon later suggested he only learned about the network's plans to hire him from social media."I actually found everything out about the offer via twitter HAHA," he tweeted.
