The Dollar General has created its own line called Believe Beauty, and a majority of the products are under .Consumer reporter Annie Taylor tested the makeup to see how it compares to the high-end lines and if it’s safe to use.Believe Beauty’s foundation and face powder contained ingredients that initially raised some flags, including talc and mica.“In large concentrations, for example talc, if you inhale it, can cause lung disease,” says dermatologist Dr. Neina Dajani. “But in makeup and in small amounts, they are considered safe.” There were also a lot of preservatives on the ingredient list.“Preservatives come off as a bad thing, but it’s not,” Dr. Dajani says. “You don’t want bacteria and fungus growing in your makeup.”The manufacture who makes the Dollar General makeup also makes celebrity Drew Barrymore’s Flower Beauty and clothing brand Zara’s makeup line.“The difference is the packaging, the celebrity endorsements, and they may make sure they put more effort into the makeup going on more elegantly,” says Dr. Dajani. “The pigments are more high-end and the fragrance is more high-end, but the ingredients really are the same.”When using the products, it took a little bit more blending and more product to get the makeup looking flawless on the skin, but ultimately, the end result looks similar to a high-end makeup look.After eight hours of wearing, the makeup held up pretty well, according to consumer reporter Annie Taylor. A U.S. Navy sailor killed two U.S. Department of Defense civilian employees and wounded an additional civilian at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam near Honolulu, Hawaii, on Wednesday. According to Rear Admiral Robert Chadwick of the U.S. Navy, security forces responded to a reported shooting at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard around approximately 2:30 p.m. local time. The base confirmed that access gates were closed. Nearly 90 minutes after the incident, the gates to the base were reopened.Chadwick confirmed that the suspect shot three male civilians before shooting himself.The names of the victims will not be released until the next of kin have been notified.More than 19,000 active duty are stationed at the base. ALACHUA COUNTY, Florida — A portion of southbound I-75 remains closed Friday after five children and two adults were killed in a fiery crash on Thursday afternoon near Gainesville. The five children were reportedly on their way to Disney World, according to FHP. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at least six patients were transported to area hospitals from the scene — multiple patients with critical injuries. Alachua County Fire Rescue says the crash occurred at 3:42 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-75 near mile marker 393 north of Northwest 39th Avenue. The crash involved two tractor-trailers, a passenger van and a mid-size four-door sedan, according to Florida Highway Patrol. As of Friday morning, northbound lanes and only one southbound lane of I-75 is open in the area. During a news conference on Friday morning, Lt. Patrick Riordan said the church passenger van carrying the children was from the Avoyelles Parish in Louisiana.
