The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has confirmed a report by The Associated Press that some of the service members who deployed to Washington, D.C., last month in response to civil unrest were issued bayonets. Army Gen. Mark A. Milley confirmed the information in a letter sent to two Democratic U.S. representatives last month. The Pentagon letter comes as the AP also reports that members of the 82nd Airborne who deployed to Washington were not trained in riot response. The soldiers were scheduled to learn riot control tactics once arriving. The soldiers were ultimately not used and were sent back to their home base. 638

The Democratic National Committee chairman assured supporters Thursday that a scaled-down convention would go on as scheduled in August in Milwaukee, Wisconsin."From the very beginning of this pandemic, Democrats have put the health and safety of the American people first. Unlike Trump, we followed the science, listened to doctors and public health experts, and worked through plans to protect lives," DNC Chairman Tom Perez said in a series of tweets. "That's how we made the decision to hold a responsible convention that will bring our country together, ensure our delegates can take care of official business without risk to public health, and still shine a spotlight on our host community of Milwaukee."In June, DNC leaders announced plans to transform the convention amid the pandemic, moving it from the Fiserv Forum, a 17,000-seat arena, to Wisconsin Center, a convention center. The Cambridge Analytica?scandal has thrust Facebook privacy settings into the national conversation after the political firm used the personal data of about 50 million people without their consent.Now, Mozilla is helping Firefox users keep their Facebook data secure so they won't be exploited in the future.The company has introduced a Firefox extension that it says will make it much harder for Facebook to track which websites you browse.Facebook has developed a network of trackers that tell the social media site which of its users are visiting certain webpages, like online retailers. Facebook will then use that information to serve its users ads based on what products they've been viewing.Mozilla says its Facebook Container extension will make it much more difficult to track which websites you visit, and keep your browsing information private.Mozilla admits the extension isn't perfect. In a blog post, the company said that the extension would not have prevented user information from being abused in the Cambridge Analytica scandal. It also says that Facebook Container would not work well on sites which require you to use Facebook information to log in.But Mozilla says the simple step of downloading the extension is giving power back to internet users. "Troves of data are being collected on your behavior on the internet, and so giving users a choice to limit what they share in a way that is under their control is important," the company wrote.To download Facebook container, first download the free Mozilla Firefox browser if you're not already using it. The community in Mayfield Heights, Ohio is mourning the loss of a 17-year-old student who died on Wednesday night. Steven "Stevie" Grieshammer was a junior on the swim team at Mayfield High School. On February 25 during swimming exercises he did not come up from the water, according to a Facebook post by his aunt Missy Bifro Grieshammer. "He was a wonderful boy, a loving son, a fantastic swimmer, and just the sweetest nephew we could have. We will miss him every day," his uncle wrote in remembrance.According to his family, he spent days in a coma.Mayfield City Schools superintendent Dr. Keith Kelly released the following statement to parents and students.Our deepest condolences and most heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the Grieshammer family.
