LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The Los Angeles County sheriff says he has concerns about tactics deputies used to detain three Black teenagers at gunpoint after the mother of one said they had been threatened by a man holding a knife.Sheriff Alex Villanueva said Monday that he had seen a video of the incident, which was uploaded by one of the teens' mothers to her Instagram profile on Saturday.The mother wrote that the man tried to stab the boys, but the deputies handcuffed her son and the others.“The guy became so aggressive that he took his shirt off pulled out a knife and whip them tried to stabbed them,” she wrote. “His friends only had their skateboards to cover them from the knife and whip so they held it out to keep distance from this guy.”The video shows the deputies holding out at least two handguns and one long gun.A sheriff’s spokeswoman says the teens were not arrested and were released at the scene.The sheriff said on Twitter that the matter is being investigated.My statement regarding the recent video involving a call for service in Santa Clarita. MEXICO CITY — Volunteer searchers found 12 skeletons and one decomposed body in a shallow pit in the desert near the Mexican resort of Puerto Penasco.Prosecutors in the northern border state of Sonora said late Thursday that two of the bodies may be women. Tests are being conducted to determine the gender and identity of the bodies.Prosecutors said only one of the bodies was relatively recent; the others were "complete skeletons with clothing."The bodies were found by a group of women who are volunteer searchers. The group is made up of relatives of missing people who investigate reports of clandestine burial sites.Because of deficient police investigations, such volunteer groups have been responsible for discovering mass graves and burial pits in many parts of Mexico.Drug and kidnapping gangs use such pits to dispose of the bodies of victims or rivals.Puerto Penasco is also known as Rocky Point. It is located on the Gulf of California, also known as the Sea of Cortez.While not as violent as some other parts of Mexico, Puerto Penasco has been known for Sinaloa drug cartel activity and a large-scale shootout between cartel gunmen and military forces occurred there in 2013. 1198

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR, Calif. (KGTV) -- A Marine Corps helicopter crashed during a routine training mission over the El Centro area Tuesday afternoon, according to officials. The CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter from 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing crashed around 2:35 p.m. Four crew members were aboard the aircraft.In a press release, the Marine Corps wrote that the status of all four crew members is, "presumed dead pending positive identification."The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. The names of the deceased will be withheld until family has been notified.  617
