IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - Friday’s high tide was powerful enough to wipe out a front porch and flood streets along the Imperial Beach coastline. Some neighbors who live along Seacoast Drive tried to put out sandbags earlier in the week. It wasn’t enough to stop water from reaching inside homes. “I’ve talked to someone they've lived here 30 years they say this is the worst they've seen,” a neighbor told 10News. Many residents are concerned about the bacteria lingering in the ocean after recent sewage spills, and now draining into their homes. RELATED: Sandbags available in San Diego CountyMark Merrifield from the Scripps Institute of Oceanography is studying the combination of waves and tides that lead to these flooding events. “We have sensors out in the water measuring offshore waves, waves as they come to the shore and the flood as it happens around the street here,” said Merrifield. Imperial Beach crews are removing sand from the roadway so they can get to the clogged storm drain and start relieving some of the flooding.FEMA flood maps for the Imperial Beach area indicate the southern end of the street is designated as a floodway. If you own a 2018 or 2019 Jeep Wrangler, get ready for a recall. According to documents posted to the JL Wrangler Forum, Fiat-Chrysler will soon be launching a recall that covers “certain” 2018-19 Wranglers because a faulty weld in the frame can cause a sudden crash.More specifically, the documents state some of the vehicles may have been built “with a front bar bracket weld located off the seam potentially resulting in the bracket separating from the frame.” If that happens, there may be a reduction in steering response, resulting in a crash without warning.At the time of this story, car owners had not yet been notified and the recall hasn’t been made official on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website, but the posted documents show dealerships are aware of the impending recall. Some of the vehicles involved in the recall have actually not even been sold yet, so dealerships are being told to withhold sales.  991

Illinois Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth gave birth to a baby girl Monday, her office announced, the first US senator to do so while in office."Bryan, Abigail and I couldn't be happier to welcome little Maile Pearl as the newest addition to our family and we're deeply honored that our good friend Senator (Daniel) Akaka was able to bless her name for us -- his help in naming both of our daughters means he will always be with us," Duckworth said in her office's statement.In her statement, Duckworth used the event to advocate that rules should be changed so she can bring her baby to Senate votes.Duckworth had her first child in 2014, when she was serving in the House of Representatives.An aide close to Duckworth told CNN she's doing well and taking 12 weeks to bond with her new daughter and take care of her family. She's staying in Washington, DC, for her maternity leave and is available to vote as needed.When she gave birth to her first daughter, she took her maternity leave at her home in Chicago, but this time she and her and her husband decided that she would give birth in the DC area in case she needs to vote, the aide said.Akaka -- a Democrat from Hawaii who served in Congress for more than three decades -- died Friday at age 93. He was previously responsible for giving Duckworth's first daughter, Abigail, her middle name of O'kalani.Duckworth is a retired Army lieutenant colonel who was a helicopter pilot in the Iraq War. HUDSON, Ohio — A Hudson woman who hosted a large house party at a rental home in October was convicted in Municipal Court Tuesday for violating state health orders to prevent the spread of coronavirus.The woman was convicted of violations prohibited and criminal damaging, both second-degree misdemeanors, according to court records.On Oct. 10, the woman used a website to rent a home in the 6800 block of Windsor Road in Hudson, according to court records. More than 150 people attended the party, in excess of the number of people allowed by the mass gatherings order that limits groups to no more than 10 people.Attendees caused more than ,500 in damage to the property, according to court records.The Akron Beacon Journal reported that on the night of the party, police were called to the scene and multiple vehicles were towed throughout the night.
