As hospitals are becoming overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients, North Dakota is permitting coronavirus-positive health care workers to continue assisting patients.The guidance stipulates that the health care workers must remain asymptomatic and take enhanced precautions in order to stay on the job. This comes as travel nurses are stretched thin as dozens of states are reporting record hospitalizations.Given the situation in North Dakota and elsewhere, it is possible more states will have to follow suit and continue using infected staff members in order to provide care. The CDC has spelled out guidance in these situations.The CDC says hospitals must exhaust a number of other guidelines, including adding travel nurses, postponing elective medical procedures, and postpone elective time off, before going into a crisis staffing situation.“If shortages continue despite other mitigation strategies, consider implementing criteria to allow HCP (health care personnel) with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 who are well enough and willing to work but have not met all Return to Work Criteria to work,” the CDC’s guidance states. “If HCP are allowed to work before meeting all criteria, they should be restricted from contact with severely immunocompromised patients (e.g., transplant, hematology-oncology) and facilities should consider prioritizing their duties in the following order:1. If not already done, allow HCP with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 to perform job duties where they do not interact with others (e.g., patients or other HCP), such as in telemedicine services.2. Allow HCP with confirmed COVID-19 to provide direct care only for patients with confirmed COVID-19, preferably in a cohort setting.3. Allow HCP with confirmed COVID-19 to provide direct care for patients with suspected COVID-19.4. As a last resort, allow HCP with confirmed COVID-19 to provide direct care for patients without suspected or confirmed COVID-19.”North Dakota Gov. (KGTV) - A man arrested in Orange County Wednesday had allegedly tried to pay to have sex with a 4-year-old, officials said.Nicolas Ryan Castillo, 29, was arrested near a home he was staying at on the Woodley Avenue in Anaheim, according to ABC affiliate KABC.FBI officials and Santa Ana police reportedly served search warrants at two homes, one of which was across the street from an elementary school. KABC reported Castillo was the subject of a monthlong investigation by police after officials received a tip.A detective posed as the mother of a 4-year-old and investigators said Castillo wanted to speak to the undercover detective about paying for sex with the child.Detectives collected evidence Wednesday and told KABC there may be evidence of child pornography and potentially other victims."We're talking about a 4-year-old child," Santa Ana police Corporal Anthony Bertagna told KABC. ANZA, Calif (KGTV) - Tons of weed was hauled and dropped at a high school in the Riverside County city of Anza after deputies served 80 search warrants on illegal pot farms.The substantial bust came hours after a murder on one of the farms. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office did not give out many details other than to say the death was tied to the illegal activity.Sheriff Chad Bianco said the coordinated drug bust effort took months of planning. Deputies started their work when the sun came up, Bianco said, adding he hoped to have at least 200 pot farms out of commission by the end of the day.Many of the operations took place miles down dirt roads. Some of the activities were reasonably hidden; others were easily visible. Neighbors said law enforcement officers were in full combat gear with rifles when they approached the illegal operations. An undocumented immigrant was shot and killed Wednesday by a US Customs and Border Protection officer in Rio Bravo, Texas, according to a CBP news release.A Border Patrol agent responded to a report of illegal activity near a culvert and discovered a group of undocumented immigrants, the agency said.The agent tried to apprehend the group but he came under attack by multiple people using blunt objects. The agent fired at least one round, fatally wounding one person, CBP said.The names of the agent and the dead person have not been released, but a bystander video posted on Facebook said the latter was a woman.In the video, a woman yells at an officer: "Why are you mistreating them?
