SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – San Diego police are investigating a series of scooter thefts that happened in the North Park neighborhood.Three scooters were stolen blocks from each other and reported one day apart.One was reported Tuesday in the 4800 block of Kansas Street.  Another two were reported stolen on Wednesday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police arrested a man who tried to rob a downtown bank Saturday.Police said a 34-year-year old white man entered the Chase Bank on West Broadway and handed a note to a teller saying that he was robbing the bank shortly before 3 p.m. The teller was able to keep the suspect inside the bank until San Diego Police arrived on the scene. Police took the empty-handed suspect into custody without incident as he was walking out of the bank. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.  585

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Rain runoff has prompted a warning for swimmers, surfers, and beachgoers in San Diego County.As showers move through the area, urban rain runoff may force large amounts of bacteria to wash into coastal waters, including San Diego Bay and Mission Bay, county officials warned Saturday.Any activities in coastal waters should be avoided for 72 hours following rainfall. Depending on the intensity of the storm, elevated bacteria levels could persist.With recent rains also bring a water contact closure for Imperial Beach's shoreline, due to runoff from the Tijuana River. The closure area includes the beach-line from the south end of Seacoast Drive to the International Border.The access road to Friendship Park, within Border Field State Park, may also be affected by river runoff.Signs have been posted warning of the water closure. 861

But with that comes the possibility of more little creatures living off all that glorious foliage. So can San Diegans expect more mosquitoes buzzing around this season? When it comes to mosquitoes, you have to wait and see if more rain equals more bugs. That is because increased rainfall can create more—or fewer—places for mosquitoes to lay eggs and breed. Winds will pick up on Tuesday. Then, the surf will increase along the coast before the Thanksgiving storm arrives.The atmospheric river will potentially set up the stage for heavy rain, flash flooding, and thunderstorms during the major winter storm. Rainfall totals could average from 3-5 inches for the coast and valleys and 4-8 inches in the mountains. Snow levels will start out high around 8,000 feet.
