CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — Surveillance video caught the moment a driver caused a fiery chain-reaction crash in a South Bay neighborhood.Chula Vista Police said five cars were involved in the crash at East Paisley Street and Monserate Avenue just after 6 p.m. Thursday. Five people were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.The crash started when a black truck hit a car, sending that vehicle into a parked car. The suspect of the black truck kept driving, hitting another car parked in a driveway that was being worked on by two people, knocking them unconscious. That car was sent into a nearby RV, injuring another person.Video from a resident's surveillance camera showed the truck send one man flying and the car into a concrete pillar, as it overturns and explodes into flames."I opened the door, and there was the car, it was on fire," said resident Priscilla Ramirez. "I'm still shaking from everything."Smoke and flames filled Ramirez's yard."I couldn't see my house, smoke and fire, smoke and fire all over my yard, couldn't see anything," Ramirez's brother, Adrian, said. "[Both men] were slurring and they were scared."The two suspects in the truck fled the scene, before later turning themselves in and receiving treatment for injuries at a hospital.The two suspects were arrested, but 10News is working to confirm what charges were filed against the pair. Chula Vista Police said they were investigating if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the incident. 1488

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - The Chula Vista Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that happened Saturday night on Telegraph Canyon Road. Surveillance at a nearby business captured the accident."Of course it was scary watching the video, right in front of our workplace here, it is scary," said Hector Ruiz, a Chula Vista real estate agent.At around 8:25 p.m., a man is seen crossing the road outside of a crosswalk. He makes it past the eastbound lanes but is then hit by a car traveling west.The driver remained on scene after the crash and has been investigating with officers. The driver did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol; no charges are expected to be filed against him. Ruiz says he is constantly worried about speeding along that stretch of Telegraph Canyon Road.Chula Vista Police say they welcome tips from the public regarding dangerous roads or places where drivers tend to speed. Martinez said she raised the red flag regarding financial issues at the district, but was not taken seriously. She said when it came to some of the district's financial accounts, "that's how the reconciled. They just made up stuff and made a balance."Martinez said she was sitting next to Superintendent Karen Janney when the multimillion-dollar deficit was discovered. "She said, hey it's the business system. It's old, huh? Just making up stuff. I've heard about six different versions of the truth and none of them have been truthful."The former Chief Financial Officer Karen Michel would not participate in the audit. The team also could not make contact with Doug Martens, the director of fiscal services.With the release of the FCMAT report, it will be up to the District Attorney, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, and State Controller to determine if fraud did in fact occur within the Sweetwater District.The district was given 15 days to respond to the audit's findings with its "proposed action."One teacher in the district, who did not want to be identified, said the audit's findings were sad, but not surprising. "Hopefully, the positive that can come out of this is that we become more transparent and have more oversight and this will never happen again," the teacher said. On Tueday, SUHSD spokesman Manny Rubio provided this statement to 10News on behalf of the district: "The Sweetwater Union High School District is currently reviewing the report from FCMAT and its findings and recommendations. The District takes this report very seriously and will be determining next steps. Given that this matter is still pending, we will refrain from any additional comment at this time."The District Attorney's office said they are reviewing the audit. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - At least one man was injured in a traffic collision today on southbound Interstate 805 near East Palomar Street in Chula Vista, the California Highway Patrol said.At 11:10 a.m., a pickup truck flipped onto its side in a crash with a larger truck hauling boxes, according to a CHP incident log. The man was out of his pickup truck bleeding from a head wound.The larger truck continued southbound on I-805 after the crash, the CHP reported. The crash blocked two right lanes and traffic in the area was backed up, CHP officers on the scene said.No further information was immediately available. 620
