BEIJING, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Emissions from motor vehicles, coal-burning and cooking contributed to the dense smogs in Beijing in January, according to research results issued Sunday.
The Meridian Space Weather Monitoring Project is the country's first space weather monitoring project and will lead the field in multiple areas, according to a statement from the National Space Science Center at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
The project has been expanded to over 300 counties of 15 provincial regions across China, said the statement.
The government has also decided to rein in inflation more decisively by lowering the control target for this year's consumer price index (CPI) increase to around 3.5 percent, compared with 4 percent targeted last year.
In northeast China's Liaoning Province, the local meteorological observatory issued a blue warning for snowstorms at 10 a.m. Friday, saying that most parts of the province could meet more snow and sleet, with Fushun City and Benxi City expecting heavy snowstorms.
