VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The Vista Unified School District confirmed that a student at one of its high schools tested positive for COVID-19.According to the district, a positive case in a student was reported at Mission Vista High School on Tuesday, resulting in about 130 students in the four classes the positive student attended to be placed into a 14-day quarantine. Those students will pivot to virtual learning.Staff members involved in these classes or who may have come into contact with the student were also quarantined, the district said."The student did not come into close contact with every student; however, since this is our first incident, we are proceeding with an abundance of caution," a district release stated.District officials said schools will reopen at normal capacity on Friday.The positive test comes just two days after Vista Unified reopened its schools for in-person instruction.Part of the reopening plan, known as “Vista Classic,” includes attempts to have social distancing as much as possible. The district will allow as many as 38 students in a single classroom, so desks will not be spaced six feet apart.According to the district dashboard, prior to the full reopening, there were four confirmed positive COVID-19 cases at schools between Sept. 8-Oct. 19. 1300

James Lankford, R-Oklahoma, said he would intervene if Biden were still not receiving the daily brief by Friday. Walgreens and CVS are rolling out new safety procedures while giving flu shots amid the coronavirus pandemic.According to Walgreens, they will conduct temperature checks and wear face masks, face shields, and protective gloves while administering the seasonal influenza vaccine.CVS says patients will be required to wear a mask and answer COVID-19 screening questions. VISTA (CNS) - An intoxicated driver who struck a homeless man in Oceanside and continued driving for more than a mile, even though the victim's body had gone through her windshield and ended up on the front seat, was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years to life in state prison.Esteysi "Stacy" Sanchez, 31, was convicted in April of second-degree murder, gross vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run in the death of 69- year-old Jack Ray Tenhulzen.At one point, the sentencing hearing was interrupted because the defendant was sobbing uncontrollably, said Deputy District Attorney Robert Bruce.RELATED: Woman accused of hitting pedestrian, driving with his body in windshield found guiltyThe prosecutor told jurors that Sanchez displayed a conscious disregard for human life when she drove drunk and ran over Tenhulzen on a sidewalk on Mission Road near the state Route 76 bridge the morning of June 27, 2016.The victim went through the windshield and into the passenger seat of her car. Part of one of his legs -- which was severed in the accident -- was found at the back of the car near the rear window.Tenhulzen was hit so hard that he was ripped out of his pants and shoes, authorities said.After a night of drinking, Sanchez left a hotel room the next morning and was told by a male friend that she was too drunk to drive, Bruce told the jury.Defense attorney Herb Weston argued that Sanchez was tired and fell asleep behind the wheel and rode up on the sidewalk, striking Tenhulzen. He said Sanchez "freaked out" when she saw the victim's body in her car and kept driving, finally stopping a block from her home.Sanchez, who lived in Oceanside, still had shards of glass in her hair when she was taken into custody. Her blood-alcohol content was measured at between .18 and .19 percent -- more than twice the legal limit of .08 percent -- two hours after the collision, Bruce said. 1891
